Grim Dawn - ARPG

Think I'm addicted to rolling alts. Can't seem to get one above 30 before I get the itch and start over.

i've got 32 at all kinds of levels. comes in handy having so much storage space on them now, i tend to shift gear that i could use onto whichever character it might be useful on, which is where pretty much each character came from, find a piece of gear and oh, i could make xyz build. :P

So i take it im done then with the Expansion? want to move on to doing Elite again, so i guess i havent missed anything.

Once you killed end boss that change 3 times, thats it.
(as far I know)

running a spellbinder atm and its been fun as I had some gear in stash and a couple of good drops along the way
seems to become my main farming build as it destroys things as far and with good defenses.

Still rocking the inquisitor *basically duel pistol fire-strikes , got really lucky with a crucible drop(s) when got carried by 3 lvl 100s and now sporting a couple of legendary pistols, currently on homestead on elite as i wanted to max out the devotions before heading back up into the expansion on veteran.

So finished the base game around lvl 42. How do you get to lvl 80 etc? Play the game on higher difficulty with the same character.

I was doing that skeleton key mission in the Broken Hills, the one where you can't portal back and fourth. Boss fight at the last minute I lost focus with him disappearing for great lengths of time, to which he reappears and ***** me 3 times and I'm dead. I needed to hit him once and that was it.

Oh well no problem, make another key I thought and run through the level again but no I have a restart the game. Biggest troll ever.

Do people play this online or mostly SP? Finding the SP a little boring now.

Both, to reach L100 you want to clear up elite and then ultimate and run dungeons.
steps of torment is one such dungeon you did, bosses can spawn with different weapons and be easier or harder depending what weapon they use.
when some of the nemesis spawn with a reflect shield it can be fun...

Once you done Logherran on veteran/Normal, you can then in the menu section choose, Elite as an option.
same happens once you done Logherran on elite, ultimate options opens up.
the expansion adds new content after logherran

The expansion is also bloody hard as nails.

Got to Malmonth on Elite with the Purifier.....then for some reason rolled an ALT..... Game is addictive as hell.

well grim dawn requries maxed out resists and some physcial reduction.
or else one may be in a pain of hurt.
running a death night with kreigs armour, really awesome and going to level on in hardcore also but much slower :)

Does anyone have an Ultimate viable build that's not heavily gear dependant?

Yeah I know it sounds odd lol, but I'm sure there's some builds that you can get by with a Hodge podge of items but carried by skill and devotion choices.

Pet builds are great for this but often you get into trouble if the pets die as you don't have much to back you up.

I was looking at Theorycrafting a Range Purifier build (Demo / Inquis) figure you can prob get by with a 2h ranged firestrike and a few of the Inquis skills, it seems they should harmonise well.

I'm guessing damage will end up being heavily fire and lightning with some pierce.

Anyone tried one yet?

Got my Commando to 95, but ive shelved him for a bit as the playstyle has gotten a bit boring, mainly due to the fact he takes 3 days to kill anything lol

Started up a Lightning based Shaman, will prob go Soldier at some point, Jajaja has a build on the forums that im kinda following, however i got the Groble Storm Totem offhand and tbh that things game breaking, gone from being able to put down 2 totems in 10 sec to being able to basically put down 4 now. Its crazy good, i just drop a totem move on to next pack and drop a totem etc just keep going and then go back to hoover up loot. Constantly running around just dropping totems and picking up stuff haha.

I read that the builds going to get a small nerf in the next patch but im still optimistic its going to be more than viable for end game farming.

94 purifier now.

90% fire based, damage is insane especially when stationary.

Survivability is low, but it makes for much fun when the buffs run out. So you have 20 seconds of awesomeness followed by 5 seconds of Oooo eck.

Nice mind sharing your Grimtools build? :) wouldnt mind trying out something fire based as i have a ton of fire gear sat going unused.

Btw your forum nick, is that a reference to the Hamster in Young Ones? :)

We'll have to setup an OCUK Discord for GD and get people in and form up some farming groups etc, ive played MP a few times on GD and its a lot better than it used to be.

Switched my retaliation tactician to a dual wielding cadence/word of pain Tactician (think the guy is called jov from the official forums who made the build) and my god it's strong. Only have the normal Legendary Havocs and rubbishy gear, but when I get the Mythical Havocs and some decent gear I reckon it will clear with ease :D

yeah Jov, Jajaja, Superfluff and Drizzto builds are usually some of the strongest and first nerfed builds lol, those guys generally make the best builds for the game. You cant usually go wrong with one of their builds.

Indeed and they make me sick because I am not good enough to make a build like theirs lol. I do make/try my own but I don't know if they would do Ultimate, I always end up switching to one of these builds after x amount of progress. My DK might as he is mega strong already but I have shelved him until they release some DK friendly gear (other than conversion type)

Btw anyone playing this on a Ryzen rig? ive just ousted my 4770k for a 1700, waiting on a backplate to turn up before i put it together, interested to see if anyone has made a similar move and how they are finding it? the patch prior to AoM added DX11 support and its definitely improved the games performance for me. Wondering if the small IPC i will take going to Ryzen is going to impact the game at all, im guessing probably not so much.

Picked the expansion up earlier not a massive saving on Steam but something to play through, since I last played looks like they've done some optimizations as it runs smoother now with less fps drops, lost all my characters as I've not played since before I went to my new rig so I'm going to start a new melee character instead of doing the pet build that I previously did.

Got upto level 35 last night and noticed some of the changes they've done with adding new dungeons and reworking some maps, we ended up going into a new area and got our arse handed to us due to the level difference between us and mobs was a new area to the top right of act 2 full of that green stuff.

Glanza add me on Steam "FalcUK" i will happily hook up with you for some co-op fun, this game is so much better played in a group, although it is great solo as well. Trying to think where you would have gone in Act2 that was full of green stuff? sounds like you stood in a ton of the aether corruption type stuff ?

I generally back all my Grim Dawn characters to a seperate drive once per month so i can restore them if anything goes wrong :)

Port Valyard or something like that, not at home to check. We'll probably have the normal run finished tonight as got to necro last night and iirc not much left to do after that point. I'll add you later can always have more on a coop run :)
