Grim Dawn - ARPG

Looking foreard to that about the only game i have been looking forward too for a while.

Might even try co-op, its mainly been a solo experience.

This is an excellent game. I haven't bought Forgotten Gods yet as I've only recently got back into the game and I only finished the Ashes of Malmouth late last night.

I much prefer PoE over Grim Dawn. I just found the art and the playstyle a little clunky compared to PoE. Personal opinion of course but I just found something always nagged at me with this game.

Im currently running a guild on Everquest TLP but FG was a day 1 purchase for me, in the mornings before work ive been giving it 45mins of time, and late at night after raids i login for a bit of GD... Rolled a new character to start as an Oathbreaker, the recent changes to melee animation make the game feel a lot more responsive and faster, Oathbreaker so far feels fun to play, im mashing through lowbie content on it so far :)

Back playing this too, sadly my cloud saves are gone so i have to start again.

What are the prerequisites for the saviors merit thingy to assist in fast leveling?

you have to have beaten the warden in the difficulty you want to unlock, so you can trigger the FG portal/questline. In there you can buy them from a vendor in the first town.

Dabbled a little more now, Just running a oath-breaker whirly build through ultimate in steps of Torment and its such fun melting skeletons :) Might even get to the new areas this weekend.

Bought grim dawn definitive edition which comes with all the dlc. Don't know much about this game apart from being made by people who created Titan quest and it seems pretty popular.
You can tell it was made by Titan quest developers with the similar engine and UI. Not a bad thing at all, just looking a bit dated.
Started the game on veteran, as I dislike arpgs that you cheese through even with an average build. Also decided to break my trend of always going a warrior build and went for necromancer. It's actually quite fun with summoning skeletons and sitting back and watching the destruction. I currently have an axe and shield, would I be better off getting a ranged weapon if I'm using my summons to get up close?

Shouldn't make much difference at the start of the game tbh, give them both a whirl and see which style you like more. You can always equip one of each and switch with W IIRC. You can also still go warrior as your #2 class pick. This is a good resource if you've not stumbled across it yet https://www.grimtools.com/

Thanks, I might pick warrior as my second class but I might go for something that has another summons/pet, what class would have that? I quite like sitting back and watching my skeletons do the work for a change.

Yea necro + occultist is good, though I think I got a bit bored with just chilling in the end. I think necro + shaman is supposed to be a good mix, but again could be wrong. Not one for really doing builds too much I just kinda play and stumble my way through it!

You could do some crucible and grind out some devotion points as they will cost more to get as the number of devotion points you get on your character increases. So easier to do it earlier, plus you can get some ok gear and levels. Does make the start of the game easier.

Is anyone still playing this actively?

I bought this recently and am at lvl86 currently. I am a Shaman/Warrior (Warder I think they are called) and it seems decent. Drop a totem, splash of lightning, hit them if they come close to me, things die. Issue I am having sometimes though is some enemies loose 95% of their life really fast then it just crawls the next 5%. Pretty sure it is a buff they get perhaps, maybe the less life they have the more defence or something. Really annoying.
