Grim Dawn - ARPG

What a difference with the 2 passive skills, i think i could take the Gates of Anguish again if i tried lol

I was just using it a skill guide. I couldnt see his passive skills he was using because it wasnt assigned in the skills bar. Thought there could be a easier way to follow skills progression.

Ahh right, so I do need to get some medical advice since I totally missed the mark there !

Down in the right hand corner there is 3 squares, those are showing the characters Permanent, Temporary and Proc Buffs, is it those you looking for ? Although the Temporary buffs are showing on the bar so guessing it is one of the other two maybe ?

Thanks didn't notice that. Really good with the double skill bar switch.

I went through a marathon to reach the gates of port valbury after defeating the boss but got no way to enter without a skeleton key? Am I missing something? Spent hour trying to get in, in case I missed something.

Yes, I did exactly the same only to be turned away at the gates, it's even more pain in bum to navigate once your in

Yeah, Port Valbury is an 'Instance' so you need a Skeleton Key to enter there and it's a pretty huge place so make sure you have plenty of backpack space when you going in there ! I normally use my personal teleport before entering and selling/storing as much as possible before going back and entering.

Absolutely loving it. The theme, designs, the atmosphere, the really.clever skills system. So immersive. Can see for myself why it's rated top 5 game indeed.

Finally got to the choice. Kyrion's Chosen or Deaths Vigil Seen a lot of reference in the beginners guide. Playing a Conjurer pet build so went with Deaths Vigil to help my pets. Hope I don't regret it

One Quick question, see your main weapon damage count towards your pet damage like it does in DB3. Or is your weapons attributes more important than the damage stats on the weapon? Thx

Hi All,

I have thinking of getting this game but have heard reports of stuttering or inconsistent frame rates. Can you confirm how this games runs for you? I have plenty of power under the hood of my PC so specs is not an issue.

5600x, 1440p, vega56 and win 11.
Runs great

Its an old engine they improved so it should run great on hardware from todays tech.
The 5800x3D cpu helps with games that need to swap to system ram and instead can utilize the cache on the cpu, speeding things up.

I'm pretty sure I've said it before, but the gameplay isn't as smooth for me as D3 is. That said the game is better imo. Frames could drop with lots of things happening on screen with my 4690k/rx580. Not tried it on my 11600k/3060ti. Though it was never an issue for me.
The base game goes on sale for £3/4, so you could always grab that on sale and see. I don't remember the dlcs affecting performance.

it used to stutter for a split second maybe once every 30mins when i was on an i5-2500k, once i upgraded to i9-10850k that disappeared completely. the game uses the old Titan Quest engine, but heavily upgraded, unfortunately its still runs mostly on a single cpu core, so modern cpu's certainly help with that.

still though, like loftie says, its £3/4 on sale for the base game and an absolute steal at that price, so you could refund or even wait until you upgrade your computer in the future.

:)

Okay thanks. I think I'll give it a shot. Frame rate in general is no problem for my system but it's the stutter that annoys me. Some games can stutter regardless of system specs but I guess this one seems okay. I tried Titan quest many years ago but had the same issue but Victor Vran run like a dream for me. I love these type of games so will pick up a copy and try.

The game has a bug where you have to tab out and reassign the cores in task manager. Works flawlessly on my aging rig and a 1080ti.

Still a top 5 game of all time for me, sunk so many hrs into it.

season 4 of grim dawn ladder sep 17 start if you want to try out in a mod.
I will play for fun as I never played grim dawn seasons or mod before, so it be interesting

That does look interesting tbh, it's been so long since I've played anything resembling the base game or even pushed into Ultimate.

I might join up and give my old Bloody Pox build a whirl and see if it's still decent.
