OK.

Any who lets get back on topic and talk about something other than the GTX 280 for a bit... the GTX 260!!!?!?<>%?!ONE!!!?!?

Looking at the current results of the 280 surly this card looks like its going to be just a bit more powerfull than the 9800GTX... but like the 280 compared to the GX2 priced higher.

Discuss and what nots while we wait for the next review to show up. :)

i see some good gains at really high res but where its playable on the GTX280 its also playable on the GX2 in most cases, then afterwards the fps is way too low to be enjoyable anyway

And who's calling for the ban??

Him. Perhaps he meant it as a joke? Am not so well versed on the rules here but I can think of a lot of things someone can do that is more 'ban' worthy. Still, back on topic.

I have a question. Has Nvidia made any inroads to mix and matching cards for SLI? I mean like in crossfire u can run a 3850 with a 3870 etc, any ideas on Nvidia brining this idea in? If they did it possibly make the 260 and 280 that much more appealing, need all the help they can get as it stands.

I honestly don't understand the concept of mixing cards, how does it work? Surely they would go out of sync.

I think hybrid SLi allows a discrete graphics card kind of works like that but with an integrated graphics chip. I can't remember if it was that or if it's just the discrete card turning off whilst not under load. I know Hybrid Crossfire effectively crossfires an onboard chip with a 3400/3600 card.

Edit: I think it works by one card, the faster card, acting as a master or controller card which both renders frames and organises them, whilst the other card works at producing more frames as and when the other card needs it.

I suppose that makes sense. Does anyone know of any mixed card crossfire benchmarks? I'm interested

Edit: Nevermind, found some. It seems to work pretty well.

Oh deary do.

(image is clickable by the way)

All GTX280's are over $700, all GTX260's are over $500.

Do a google product search on the american Google, see what prices you get for the 9800 GX2. That's right, the GTX260 is launching at the same price as the 9800 GX2 when the GTX280 barely beats it in a lot of benchmarks.

Well obviously that wasn't a complete list, if I'm honest I just wanted to use the image... Still they're priced damn high. Then, they are pre-launch prices which may well be a tad optimistic.
