GT200 GTX280/260 "official specs"

Oh deary do.

(image is clickable by the way)

All GTX280's are over $700, all GTX260's are over $500.

Do a google product search on the american Google, see what prices you get for the 9800 GX2. That's right, the GTX260 is launching at the same price as the 9800 GX2 when the GTX280 barely beats it in a lot of benchmarks.

Ouch.

Okay, even I'm not hoping AMD win so much that I want to believe those. If they are real however, we have officially caught nvidia with their pants well and truly down.

Disappointment after disappointment, pricing through the roof, power consumption that rivals your average electric stove. What a fun next couple of years for nVidia, eh? If doubling the amount of transistors yields this, I doubt a 10nm optical shrink from 65nm to 55nm is going to be their saving grace. They're going to have to perform a lot of finger pulling out of bum action. :\

any suckers still going for the 280? :p

Maybe :(, I don't know anymore, this is a stressful GPU release tbh, I'm now thinking selling my 8800GTX was a bad idea, my 6200 I have atm has trouble even moving windows around let alone trying to move something in 3D :o, I think I'll wait to see what peoples consensus of the card is on here first, if all is good then providing the card is £450 or less then I'll pick one up, otherwise I'll be camping in MM for a cheap 8800GTX.

So uh...

Performance wise it could even look like:

4870X2
GTX280/4870/9800 GX2
GTX260/4850/3870 X2

But price wise:

GTX280/4870 X2
9800 GX2/GTX 260
9800 GTX/4870/3870 X2
8800 GT/4850

That would really back Nvidia into a corner...

Edit: I know that'd never happen, but I find the fact that some things point towards a similar situation hilarious.
