Oh no sorry, I meant how much would the service be that they have to take out the engine for?
£600. A normal service is around £200.
Changing the spark plugs is the reason, you have to lift the engine to get to them. But they use Iridium ones so it's only every 60k miles/6 years.

2 months in to ownership, from what I can say:
You will definitely recognise the chirping noise. Mine gets it when I run on 98 but ran it once on 95 where it didn't happen. Not noticeable 99% of the time unless you're outside the car standing near the bonnet whilst it's running for whatever reason.
Auto will miss the gearbox issues
I've got the rusty door pillars starting to show now however I think if you catch it early you'll be able to prevent it.
I went with Toyota Approved from Listers in Nuneaton, had no issues with that.
Unfortunately mine's been involved in a crash already though, small bump so got off very very lightly, other two drivers are in intensive care a week later. Non fault as someone went to overtake me on a blind resulting in head on crash. Waiting on insurance now which is going to be a sad one to see added when I come to renew seeing as though I'm 18, 19 at the time of renewal
100% a fantastic car to drive, I don't feel like it needs more power, may think differently down the line but it has a nice amount as it is.
Damn mate I'm sorry about the crash, hope you get the insurance pay out.

I've been looking for 5 year old ones, there seems to be quite a few available for between 13k and 14k.
For that crash damage, if it's just the bumper scrape I wouldn't have even claimed tbh. Probably cheaper in the long run to get it fixed yourself. Sand it down (to save money on labour) and get it re-sprayed.
For the rusty pillars. Mine were swapped under warranty, but I inserted a bit of silicone under the plastic trim to prevent it happening again. Ideally I want to cut some away so the trim curves round the pillar, but I don't think it will be easy to get right

After 5 years old the price of an oil change service and MOT can be had for £99 from a Toyota dealer, add on brake fluid change, rear diff oil and filter and you can do the "full" service for under around £200. The 60k service I'd get a specialist to do as it doesn't need an engine lift if the right tools are used, easily save £100. 80k service is a replacement fuel filter which means stripping out the rear bench, again I'd get that done at a specialist to cut the cost. Don't go anywhere near the service plan if they offer one, the prices are cheaper if the car is 5 years old.
I've had experience with 8 dealers across 3 franchises, some of them with multiple visits. Every single one of them I've either been lied to about work done on the car, failed to do what was asked/arranged or the car returned with other parts broken.
Could have had these issues with any car, I do not regret owning a GT86 as it has given me 40k happy miles, track days and events over 5 years and would love to see at least another 5 years out of it.

I have a Toyota dealership about 5 miles away and my local small garage are very good, they do small bits for me and for more technical stuff they will call a more specialised garage to make sure I don't get conned.

Well at the end of the day it's only money and as long as you wasn't hurt. And hopefully you don't suffer any mental side effects. I had a crash at 19, someone pulled out of a junction without looking and I had no choice but to hit them. For quite a while after, I was hesitant whenever someone was pulling up to a junction as I was going past.
Too right! Have had some mental side effects from it but I keep myself looking on the positive outlook that I wasn't in hospital, I think it was mainly seeing the state of the other guys and their cars that affected me.
I flinched the other day when someone went to overtake me, but I think I'll get better with time.

The 0-62 figure seems slow because 2nd gear tops out bang on 60mph due to shorter than normal gear ratios, so there is an extra gear change to hit 62 than in most cars. People have done 0-60 in mid 6s which is about right for the power/weight.
But yea, many people tune them. Though it's not cheap to do as the OEM setup is pretty much maxed out, you need physical upgrades.

Cheers for the reply thats good to know. I was just expecting more from the car 0-60 wise as I expected it to be atleast less than 7 seconds.
Oh yea and the slippy standard tyres don't help for launches either. The car is kinda set up for casual drifting out of the box, which it does amazingly well lol
I think they're slightly faster than the quoted times, as mentioned the gear ratios aren't perfect for 0-60. The go-to NA tuning mod is a catless manifold along with a remap, doesn't gain lots of power - maybe 10-15bhp at the top end but massively improves the torque figures.
