GT86/GR86/BRZ

260bhp is advised on the auto due to heat and power delivery from a turbo, if you're not planning on regular track sessions and using more linear forced induction (Cosworth/Harrop) you can get more from the engine with less risk on the gearbox. Most supercharger upgrades without any other exhaust modifications are usually around 260bhp.

Yeah 260bhp sounds good, I'll see how the car is standard for a few months. And then if my health improves, and I'm out and about more, I'll think about some upgrades next spring.

I was close to finishing the NA route which consist of intake(doesn't really matter what one you use), Cobrasport catless front pipe(passed MOT at my local Toyota dealer) , Cobrasport midpipe, Cobrasport catback exhaust and Cosworth thermostat. The only thing I was missing was a aftermarket exhaust manifold but the mods done with Adrian custom road tuning gave the car the mid-range punch it needed.
At drag strip 0-60 there are times where id beat my bro stage 2 APR mk6 golf GTI but of course FI start shining after that lol.

Theirs was 260 on the stock exhaust, 280 on a 2.5"+ exhaust system, nearly 300 with the pulley upgrade. Their dev car was running 330 with 3" exhaust, new injectors and forged parts. Mine's running the full exhaust replacement without FI, only a 15% increase at peak power but 40% in the mid-range which is far more useful.

The GT86 has parking sensors standard, the range is quite wide so you should be okay. The reverse camera was an optional extra I believe but Toyota/Subaru charge a lot for those but you can get it and attempt to install yourself.

Parking sensors were not standard on any model, always a (£250) dealer fit option. 2012-16 model never had the option for the rear camera in this country and a 3rd party kit was released on a group buy from one of the tuners in 2014. Parking sensors are very useful until you know the size of the car, some people even had them fitted to the front but it's not really a big car, get rears fitted and reverse everywhere. I bought a rear camera 4 years ago as part of the group buy and it's still in the box.

You can also pay Toyota £250 at any time to have sensors fitted.

I've not really missed them tbh. Visibility isn't to terrible for this type of car. You can always stick your head out of the window to check position :D

20mm front and 25mm rear is the popular setup. That gets the tyres flush with the arches and gives it a bit more stability at high speed. You'll find the car is quite twitchy above about 80mph :)

Thanks, that's very helpful. i just noticed the rear wheels sitting in the arch. So they will definitely have to be done. Do you have to tell insurers about them?
