Not too hard to imagine the £50 price tag, i bought mortal kombat 2 on snes when it came out and them games were not cheap and cost me £49 quid iirc. As did most top games for snes at the time.

@Frenzy, It was thought to be understood that this time it would be a simultaneous release for pc and consoles this time which ok it was all rumor but it was a good rumor and the hopes of it happening were very high. So the let down is pretty hard.

Just as well I sold my Xbox months ago.

R* should really buck their ideas up in this day and age. Then again, the PC version of GTA 4 is so much better than the console versions so I guess I can wait.

Source?

Only console game I've ever seen over £40 is COD, I'd be shocked if it was over. That is unless you can post your source that confirms this?
my opinion sorry. not factual. i can see this being £50 easily. games like fifa are already £45-£50 on consoles

I don't understand why so many people are shocked that the game is being released on console first. Besides GTA was more about game play rather than graphics anyway.
except the gameplay was stripped down compared to vice city and SA.

Rockstar have released notes I think it was 2010 or something that they realise the PC delays are silly. They said they will improve on that and by looking at their latest games they have. Hopefully GTAV follows trend.

If they do the same shoddy job as IV though, which took about 6 months of patches to become semi-decent, I will be angry. Still to this day it comes with countless windows errors and launch issues.

they should get with the times and make is firstly a pc game and then port it to consoles

Could be that since the pc is an open plataform there is no deal to get it release with the console version? Maybe sony and ms are paying to have it 1st. Im more surprised by the surprise that its not getting released on the same day as the consoles.
PC gamers haven't you noticed by now that we are at the bottom of food chain in multi-plataform releases. When the pc starts pulling the same sales numbers as consoles on multi plataform games we might get a same day release, sad but true.

If all platforms are developed at the same time then console will always take priority.
Why? Well two reasons really:

1) The console market is larger which means more profit.
2) Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have silly strict certification procedures. There is a schedule to keep so more effort goes into passing first time. These procedures aren't free either, they cost. It is in the best interest of the dev team to prioritise the console builds.

I'm pretty sure if most profit came from PC sales then this would be the platform that developers would concentrate on.
Sure there is the odd company which does prioritise the PC first but they are usually established franchises and the ethic of the company is totally different. They aren't in it solely for the money although that does play a major part in it.

Doesn't really look like Rockstar are going to put much attention into the PC version of this game.

"Hey guys, glad to see so much enthusiasm about the release announcement. For those asking about the PC platform, we're currently focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game and don't have any details to share about a PC version at this time. Anyone that continues to spam the comments section will have their commenting privileges suspended." (Rockstar themselves said this)

its all one dev team making one game on a pc then it gets optimised for the different systems.

makes more sense to make a pc game and then dumb it down so it runs on a console like pretty much every other dev studio does
