*EDIT*: @ 1080p, get around 80fps in day, 100ish at night. Never dips below 60 which was my aim. After playing it originally on the PS3, I wanted my PC experience to be butter smooth after that laggy, stuttering mess!

OK so I benchmarked GTAV on my Pentium. 1080p absolute max settings with 2XMSAA. I'm using about 3gb of the 6gb VRAM. Titan Black, CPU clocked to 4.2, VSYNC on (it was a stuttery mess without it oddly)

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
5111, 90000, 33, 60, 56.789

And an exact count of the frames here in the spoiler.

That's a 90 second run and was benched during the car race at the start (so through the city).

So basically I would say that a Pentium is more than good enough for GTAV, contrary to what some people may think. The min FPS also came as a bit of a stutter, but then please note I am only running 4gb of RAM in a 64 bit OS and GTAV recommends 8gb.

Just installed my GTX980 as an upgrade from a HD7950, set the game up with Nvidia's Geforce Experience and dialled the grass down from very high to high, looks stunning and very few drops below 59FPS according to fraps, lovely!

Try very high not much a performance hit over high for me and grass looks much better.. Stay away from ultra though that is a real killer.

I ran the in game bench marks with it on very high and it was dropping to around 30fps on some of the country scenes, but it seems to be much better on high, never drops below 45fps.

I'll have a proper play with the settings later, like I say, I've just let Geforce set it all up for me and it seems to work quite well.

Any other recommendations for the following setup please :-

GTX980
i5 3570k stock
16gb DDR3

According to AMDMatt the benchmark doesn't reflect real gameplay at all.

Fair point, I just ran the benchmark, lowered the grass setting, ran it again to check, then played the game, and so far (albeit I've only been in the city for 10 minutes) fraps is reporting a constant 59fps.

Not just me.

I don't think GTAV's benchmark is very reliable. On Totalbiscuits port report video he ran the bench with single and SLI 980's and the results were odd with SLI dropping below single card at some points. I just don't think you can trust the benchmark really.

Yea benchmark doesn't really come close to my actual gameplay either.

Who regularly sees minimum fps of single digits while playing GTA V?

I havent even seen it going as low as half the average tbh, im getting 100 fps average on the benchmark, and i never see it below 59 fps even stoood in a grassy field blowing up cars on the highway.

Im guessing it must be a fraction of a second when theres stuff exploding when it drops down but its too fast to see it in real time.

Yeah i dont monitor my temps anymore, i just turn all my fans up to full blast, open a few windows and cross my fingers :)

That has now changed for me, even though I was settled I played with the settings and managed to get better visuals pushed out of it.

Will try and fire together a gif showing the settings later plus some screens.

Got my 970 today! just popped it in and the difference is amazing compared to my crossfire 6950s i had! soo smooth!

but then i got a crash for the first time?

ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT Crash

any word on what this may be?
