GTAV performance thread.

I sit far enough away (Just over 1m away) from my Swift that I don't notice too many jaggies with FXAA enabled. However on my 51" sammy plasma on the wall and a 2m+ distance I can see jaggies even with 8x MSAA at 1080p. Luckily I game on the swift and use the tv for movies only :p

120hz screen

After a lot of game hours I've finally settled on very high with shadows on high. Also had to reduce refresh rate to 60hz to maintain a smooth feeling. The game feels weird above 60hz and not very smooth. Likewise when the frames drop from 60 it becomes a bit sluggish.

Had to scale a few settings back as a result of that to maintain a solid 60fps with no dips.

Have you tried changing the mouse option ? Seems to make a difference for me.

The best feel I get is with direct input. Raw input feels somewhat sluggish and windows is way to slow.

Was mainly an issue with the game seemingly speeding up / slowing down. Frame pacing or something I believe it's called.

To be honest I only really noticed in when travelling in a tunnel or on the freeway. So say for example there is like a line on the wall or street light, it made it obvious the game was sort of speeding up / slowing down where frames were going up/down between 80-120. Likewise as soon as frames drop to 50 I notice it chugging.

capping refresh to 60 with vsync on has really made the game feel smooth. Unfortunately my card can't maintain a solid 60 in all conditions with everything maxed, hell it uses 3.7gb V-Ram (monitored via gpu-z) with very high on most settings, high on shadows, 2x msaa, TXAA and no tessellation .

Infact I'm sort of shocked how much this game is caning my card with everything enabled / maxed / ultra. It's both impressive and scary at the same time. I only went with a 4GB at the time as there was no 8GB out and for all intents and purposes 4GB should have been future proof for 1080p at least a couple years.

I'm surprised as well, while I've turned down some of the distance/draw settings it seems like we are running similar settings with mostly very high/high and my 780 is eating this game or breakfast at 1080p.

Will confirm exactly what my settings are when I get home tho.

Don't get me wrong, I can run fully maxed ultra 8x msaa etc. and it will run, and in a decent chunk of scenarios it will be above 60fps, however it just feels like **** unless it keeps that constant fps in my experience, hence why I've cut it back a bit.

Also my card is only under 45% load @ 60hz, however at 120hz it does go upto 95%+ load

Several different scenarios there with 4XMSAA (including 4XMSAA shdows) and everything else fully maxed out at 1440P on a single Titan X. Tough game but gorgeous and good thread :)

Just uploaded and needs time before going to 1080P @ 60fps :)

Nice review.

Have you got rid of 1 of your Titan X's?

Surprised to see so many people still running only 8GB RAM and talking about needing more VRAM, surely 16GB should be the minimum for a high end gaming rig nowadays?

4790k @4.7ghz
32gb 2133hz ram
titan x SLI (stock)
4k resolution (native)
When it works 60fps solid everything maxed with no MSAA but fxaa on.
Seem to get system lockups a lot running the SLI in GTA V atmo

Because a lot of people, like me, built their rigs in 2011/12 and haven't had to upgrade anything but graphics since then. For example I have a 2550K, 8GB ram and a GTX Titan.

8GB is totally fine, Im also on a 2012 rig and just upgrading GPU - 3930K/32GB but gave 16GB to my brother as it was just overkill.

Been running absolutly silky smooth up until now.. I have started getting stuttering where the frames drop momentarily from from 75. The issue increases until the game is unplayable and I have to restart

2600k here, and going strong to date, pity the cpu performance in the last few years hasn't got that much better, was considering a 5930k and new mobo but from the results ive seen you're talking a handful of fps at most for £500+ of upgrades.
