GTX 1070 - any takers?

Am tempted by the 1070 but also by AMD's rx 480, going to wait and see what the score is once benchmarks are out. It's a weird one, the third party Nvidia options will be cheaper than the founders (mug) edition but guessing it night not be that way with AMD.

It's only speculation though until the scores are on the boards, exciting times for both red and green supporters, as well as the folks wearing no/both colours.

I really want reviewers to get their hands on the EVGA SC and FTW before the 10th so I know if the FTW 1070 is worth it or not lol

Unfortunately the "high end" 980ti is less powerful than the "mid range" 1080.

This is not unfortunate but the way it should be, the 980ti is a previous generation product and is over a year old. You would expect a newer generation to be more advanced/powerful than the last, especially on a node shrink.

Well you can respectfully disagree but I was using the official naming structure. Let me ask you this. If you call the 1070 & 1080 mid-range then the 1050 & 1060 are low range. What do you call the 1010 to 1040 GPU’s? One cannot group the xx10 and xx40 into the same range as the xx50 and xx60 cards.

How can you call cards that cost over £100 low range? What is wrong with using the official family grouping rules?

Entry level GPUs not for gaming

1050/1060 low end gaming GPUs

You guys really can't take the hint with this tier thing can you

If the rumors are true, £400 is way too much for the 1070. AMD needs to pull their finger out their butts and get some real competition going. The 970 was cheap because it had to compete.

Can you imagine what the price of the 1080 Ti or even Pascal Titan will be?

£600 was my absolute max money I could spend this gen for a GPU. In no way will I afford a 1080 Ti or Titan. I was happy to just get a 1080. tbh me thinks this will be my last upgrade for a few years. I'll see what the consoles are like in a few years time. Don't want to jump ship , but might not have any choice with the way prices are so high.

Price drops will happen they always do...

I'm sending the 1080 FE back and getting a 1070...

You're looking at the top of the range though. There's better value cards further down and they still provide better graphics than a console.

Even a GTX 950 comfortably outperforms the current consoles. It's an extremely low bar this generation. Perhaps that'll change a bit with the updated versions.

;)

not happy with the FE?

:D

also like ive said from the start 1070 FE - 389 - 419

non I guess you could say will start from 339

The FE 1070 will be £399. It has already been confirmed. Going by the 1080 custom prices. the cheap 1070's will likely start around the £330-£340 mark

I don't why there is still speculation about this  It is obvious what the custom 1070 prices will roughly be.
