GTX 1070 - any takers?

Mental pricing. Sub £350 I'd have been very tempted. £400+ they're crazy.

Here's hoping AMD have a reasonably priced 490 up their sleeve or it looks like my 290 lives to fight another day.

That FE £399 pricing is influencing third party cards prices, likes of the MSI should be £350 tops.

MSI have been trying to reposition themselves in the market over the last 2yrs,they used to be one of the cheaper brands but now they're trying to brand themselves as a premium brand like Asus.

**** off nvidia, and that's the first time I've really felt that way about the green team, been supporting nvidia for the best part of 15 years but they are taking the pee now, really hope the 480 is a runaway success, I'll be buying one for my secondary machine and I don't even really need it.

Not good at all...and as i said before

At this rate its what is going to kill the gaming pc in general over time you will only be left with elite enthusiast with money to burn and benchmarks to do ..more and more will move over to consoles
nvidia intel ect are shooting themselves in the foot with these prices ..

Plus games on the pc will become even worse either really bad ports or nothing at all ...console only..all the independents will have to move over to console or not exist

Amd however are clever its a win win for them more consoles sold more chips sold ....

Damn.

Guess my card won't be pre-ordered today. Honestly thought it would be around the £350 mark.

£400+ WTF. Who the hell is going to buy this when the 1080 is only £100 more??

I'm guessing most people who have £400 to spend on a gpu will just fork the extra out for a 1080 now (Or say f this and get a 480). Looks like the same issue as 980 and 980 ti, 980 was priced too high so people just got an extra £100-150 for the 980 ti. Maybe that was the plan all along?

Where will the gtx 1060 be, £300+ FE?

I was thinking AIB something like 350 i could sell 980ti and get 1070 just for fun as its same speed after oc.. But not at those prices FU nv

Yep.

My friend was having a gripe to me the other day how much consoles suck and hold games back, and he's fed up and wants the glory days back of things like crysis coming out when it did pushing the boat forward.

But I basically said exactly what you have. There needs to be more competitive pricing to pull people into pc gaming.

Seriously do Nvidia think they can keep raising the price of GPUs indefinitely? Are we going to be seeing £600 GTX 1170s, £800 1270s, £1000 1370s etc? It's like they actively want people to buy AMD graphics cards instead of theirs, and I feel almost compelled to do so even if they end up being inferior cards just out of principle. If this keeps up it will kill the entire PC gaming market before long. Fingers crossed those prices aren't representative and it's just a few of the aftermarket manufacturers trying to price gouge.

This was what I expected TBH. The prices people were hoping for would have decimated the 970/980/980Ti new and used prices alike. Especially the Ti, which will now drop but if these cards had come in at low 300's, it would have been very bad business for them. Nvidia weren't going to let that happen.

Bring on the £800 1080Ti next! £1K HBM2 card after that.

If the 480X comes in at around £200, XFire x2 of those looks quite tempting now!

It has nothing to do with the prices for the 900 series cards.
