GTX 1070 - any takers?

The fact that this jump happened to be a *bit* smaller than the Fermi->Kepler jump doesn't mean you reduce prices. They price based on range, not level of performance jump.

Reduce prices? they've gone upwards tier for tier let alone stayed the same or reduced even allowing for inflation and increased cost of 16nm.

:)

Not sure how the warranty will work as it stands but seller asked EVGA for a replacement cooler, they said they can't at the moment as there is limited stock but to try again in a couple of months.

I googled and found how EVGA warranty transfer work with second owner.

http://forums.evga.com/How-to-transfer-warranty-m2478845.aspx

You will need to register the card serial and then the warranty from original owner will transfer to you automatically so in 2 months you could ask EVGA to sent you replacement cooler. :)

The MSRP for the normal 1070's is LESS than it was for the 670 and 770, though. Our issue is mainly that somebody along the chain is price gouging the hell out of the UK/EU 1070's.

The thing I can see happening, when the RX480's arrive with prices much higher than they should be as well, it will be NVidia's fault for the higher prices, rather than the distribution channel getting the blame, as most of the sane people around here realise. ( yes I know there are only a few forumites that could be considered sane ;))

Indeed.

We are just being taken for a ride due to short supply. Things will get back to normal once there is loads of stock.

There is nothing wrong with the RRP of the 1070 at all. I think it is pretty good.

I do however think the FE bull**** has skewered the prices up a bit as well.

would star all the swearing, just been unbanned from a 3 day ban from doing the same just a heads up.

Is the 1070 powerful enough for 1440p gaming? All bellsnwhistles?

depends what fps you are happy with

my "ideal" scenario is 100fps (min. not hitting less than 80fps).

at the moment neither 1080 or 1070 can give you that in demanding games (Tomb raider, dying light, ashes, doom). nvidia needs to get their act together. I know most people still game in 1080 but c'mmon we need x80 ti at reasonable price asap to enjoy silky smooth 1440p.

Dunno off the top of my head what the 1070 does in Doom at 1440p but it should be pretty close to that with ultra settings.

Just noticed OCUK has the cheapest 1070 for £364.99 which is not bad.

I forget what my old EVGA GTX 670 4GB was cost, cant find in OCUK order history, realised I ordered it from competitor. I logged in and checked order history, wow I don't realised I paid £431.60 for it 4 years ago. Also found I paid £358.65 for 1280MB EVGA GTX470 SC back in 2010. Surprised OCUK new system didn't kept my orders history before 2010 so cant remembered how much I paid for BFG GTX 260 OC.

Managed to find MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X for bit less than £400. Very tempting to pre-order it. OCUK really need to drop price to match it!

Edit: Hmmm after googled found that OCUK does offer price match so guess I will sent a webnote to see if they can drop price. :D

The exact card I'm looking for :0

Must find this offer!

It's just over-priced, something actually the 670 and 770 were also guilty of at launch. However Nvidia are experts with the early adopter premium. Also the 1070 can be seen as the cheapest card yet to realistically support 4k gaming.

AMD for all their flaws are usually the best option for those concerned with price/performance, and this time the power and heat dealbreakers that ruined their 200/300 series are no more.

Therefore I expect like the 670 and 770, the 1070 pricing will creep down and down and settle at the 970 price point by Christmas.

By the way are you sure it is the Gaming X and not the Armor edition?

Any clues to that offer? Barcode? Rainforest? Lol

You think the price will fall by £150 in 6 months? Lol wishful thinking bud

Found it. Personally I would be wary as it has a picture of both the founders and gaming x and doesn't say gaming x in the title. The aero is also more expensive at the same place..

Still overpriced though really.

If you look at it like that then yeah...

The 1070 for a new build is the way forward...Its the people wanting to upgrade their current cards that are moaning.

I sold my 980ti and will have to settle for a 1070...Its not an upgrade...But It will cost me nothing and I get 2 GB more ram

Thats what I keep telling myself anyway.:p

well for you it would actually make sense to go after an 1080 unless you plan to wait and get a 1080 Ti later on.

The problem is for those who don't have a 980 Ti to sell :)
