Are these efficient enough yet to run two from a 650w power supply?
Away from home at the moment but have a Corsair TX650. Not sure how many 6 pin plugs it has but expect able to adapt 8 pin to 6 pin if the supply can handle two.

Well they have a 195W TDP, so say for example, the maximum the two of them would use is 390W, that would only leave you headroom of about 250W to power the rest of the system at full load.

It would be a bit too close for comfort for me, but since it's a decent PSU then it could probably manage it, just about. Depending on if you are overclocking or not, and by how much.

Gibbo, can I just ask, what determines which companies you stock and you don't?

I just wondered why you don't do business with KFA2, for example.

from what i understand, nividias tdp is not the maximum wattage like most manufacturers - some research in this area is required :)

No research is required from me, I was using the TDP value as an example. :p

These cards seem to be typically using 170-175W each at peak load, without any overclocking - slightly less than the 7970, which draws around 195-200W I believe.

650w will be fine. NVidia state a minimun of 550w so you room to play (overclock) with. Just 2x 6pins are needed so your psu is fine.

noticed the 2 x msi 680 sli pack disappeared fast :(

is there going to be simular deals when stock levels off beginning of april?

wouldnt mind a couple of 4gb variants or just sli evga sc :D

cheers :)

Gibbo when any one of these hits £399.99 or less i'm in.

A psychological barrier in my head, but important none the less.

I guess we need to wait for general stock availability.:(

I "may" be tempted by a factory o/c version tho for a little over £400. When will we hear about clocks on the o/c cards?

I see the price gouging is increasing :D
Hardly surprising when they can't keep them in stock for long enough - a stark difference from the 7xxx series from AMD. I'm actually surprised that we haven't seen the 7970 drop in price yet, as they should have done it before the release of the 680.

I might pick up a second when the price comes down a bit, as while most games run great at 2560x1600 there are some that are just a bit too demanding.
