GTX 780 Owners Club

Not on the 780's (As far as I have read). What is your idle clocks (sitting on desktop)?

Use Precision X to check or similar.

Edit:

Do you use Firefox?

Thanks for the reply - I will have to check later as I am stuck in work at the moment :o

I use chrome not Firefox. The only common denominator that I can think of is it has only happened when I have had Precision X running (latest version).

Had a few BSOD with these now  Need to have a proper play tonight. Sick of seeing the words Driver IRQL not less or equal. I'm thinking a clean windows install might fix as I have been on AMD hardware before. Gonna wipe off the drivers and EVGA precision and re install it all see if that fixes it first. Clean windows install won't hurt but is time consuming. Annoying as it never BSoD on load or when gaming it happens when the system is idle - yesterday waking it from screen saver caused it  Anyone else having issues with the 320.18 driver and 780's?

DONT USE THE 320 DRIVERS. There seems to be serious problems with them, even cards dieing.

Yummy :D

I might even be able to play some older games on triple screen (7680x1600). I think Just Cause 2 would be due another play through at that resolution. Even more explosions...

I play at 5760x1080 (as you know) with everything turned on in all the games I play (bar Crysis3) and the Titans fly along. I never bother running an overclock on the GPU's when gaming and the 780's are so close in performance, you should be able to bust out the other 2 screens and enjoy.

You are pushing 6067200 more pixels than me, so a fair bit more of a push needed but those older games....pfffft :D

A bit more info please and if you are talking about the Nvidia forum, I have read that one guy fried his 480 when he put the 320.18 drivers on. Also that it is pushing higher voltages on Fermi cards (which isn't good for OC GPU's).

I have read that Firefox was causing TDR errors/crashes, so could be something more to it.

I am not a fan of reinstalling windows at all but sometimes it is a far quicker/easier way.

Good to know... :)

I figure that anything I can play now (with a single GTX480) at 2560x1600, I should be able to play at the same settings in 7680x1600 - so long as memory capacity doesn't become an issue. 3Gb should be plenty though... Even my 1.5Gb GTX480s could play a wide range of games without running out of memory (though adding in AA would often tip them over the edge).

Also on the GeForce site aswell. I didn't have any problems but I reverted back to earlier drivers just to play it safe.

I think the driver is just typical of Nvidia devs of late and poo. They seem to be doing an AMD special with two steps forward and one step back.

For the record I am on 320.18 and have no issues but different system configurations bring different problems. I can see BF3 is the biggest problem and I can't stomach that game anymore, so I will stick with these drivers for now.

Do any of the earlier drivers support the 780?

I must admit I installed the 320.18's before reading about any problems and haven't noticed anything bad with the new 780. Admittedly I didn't run them on the 580's.

:D

You will be fine.

I am tempted just to do a complete windows install as soon as I get home - as you said - it is a pain but will almost definitely fix any stability issues as well.

I have to say I am impressed with how smooth the SLi is. My 7950's set up was pretty good with very little micro stutter but these are on another level. I always thought it was fanboy vs fanboy when the xfire vs Sli argument came up but I am happy to be proven wrong. Had a blast on Tomb Raider last night everything apart from tressfx turned right up and 4xAA - Solid playable framerates and not one ounce of microstutter. I can actually play FarCry3 now as well :D

Very nice. :)

However, I would have thought two 780's would be able to manage TressFX?

Thats what i did last night when upgrading from 2 560 ti's in sli to my shiney new gtx. Only takes 10 mins to install windows, the updates on the other hand.......

I have completed Tomb Raider with 100% completion With TressFX on but sadly not in 3D. I have to turn that off in 3D or it is too slow (triple screens on both). I love the game and hope to see more of it.

Just a quickie Arc, what drivers are you on and did you use the 320.18 at all? If so, any problems?

I'm still on 320.00 - no problems there for me. :)
