GTX 780 Owners Club

Anyone using 780 sli for 1080 120hz? Be interested to hear if you regret the decision or does it give everything you need from demanding titles such as bf4, crysis 3, metro etc...?

Fingers getting itchy over the buy button on another phantom :D

i am waiting till next week to get my 2nd 780 sli i just received my first one today :) also grabbing 2 water blocks for them as well. but i will keep you updated!

Stock of phantom blocks is scarce :(

I may be joining you sooner rather then later, the phantom glh is due back in stock on Monday, not sure how much longer I can hold out :D

Looking at benches 780 sli is certainly justified with high end games at 120/144hz.

How come you didn't get on with your 290x? I seem to remember you mentioning it a few posts back. I was just wondering how it compared at 1080p to a 780 :)

290x was silly loud. My 780 is dead so cannot test.

Just tried a different motherboard BIOS and the GPU fan now spins then stops completely when powered on still no display.

Pretty sure this card is kuput....

I had almost the same issue with my 7970 so part of me is thinking it could be the motherboard. Shame for the first time in ages I only have one board here...

Damn, how did your 780 die!!

Also, why the lack of reference cooler 780's at OCUK? I want to SLI but would rather have another reference card.

GIVE IN !!!!!!!! this card is a beauty and i cannot wait for my 2nd one.

just did a valley comparision, sli 580's @ 900/2050 got a score of 3250
single 780 lightning @ stock got a score of 2965

surprisingly though, my 3dmark firestrike extreme 580s @ 1313
single 780 lightning @ 4811

honestly bring on my 2nd card when i get the funds in a week!

The card is brand new seemingly DOA.

Its weird if I set the board to gen 3 the fan runs constant no display. If I set it to gen 2 the fan spins up and then stops completely still no display.

Something weird going on here... ?

Some mobos just won't work with 780's even after a BIOS update.

Does seem weird I had similar issues with my 7970 although that would work in Gen 2 mode this 780 will not display anything at all.

I need to find another system to test the card on and confirm if it's the card or board.

People still use 120hz? So 2012...:D. I run a BenQ 144hz with SLI. Can't say I regret it in any way, shape or form. I tend to run the Lightboost hack and play at 120hz strobed online. I'm eyeing up one of those new Eizo 240hz PVA monitors to replace it though.

It's been a noticeable upgrade from my 670's, Metro LL, Tomb Raider all run sweetly, even in 3D Vision. It's nice to be able to max most games and keep a high refresh rate, I hated 1440 after a while, too much blur for my taste.

120hz for now, the monitor scene is about to change due to gsync etc.. so I'll wait until after xmas before moving to 144/240hz and lightboost, hopefully a better choice of what I want by then too.

Roll on monday, looks like I'll be on sli by Tuesday :D

Have you tried a bios reset?

Yes on the motherboard and different bios's as well.

The card either spins the fan then stops or constantly spins the fan at max depending on bios.

It is not recognised by the board in any PCI express slot either.

I'm %99 sure the card is DOA.
