GTX 780 Owners Club

Unless you're going to be heavily benching I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Most 780's seem to clock within 100mhz of one another, which on the grand scheme of things is only around 8% higher / lower fps. Not exactly a deal breaker.

And if you were into benching, then the MSI Lightning, EVGA Classified and KFA2 HOF would probably be better choices as they have improved power circuitry.

This seems to be the stablest oc I can manage with my very limited knowledge.

Upping the voltage increases the core clock boost without altering anything else. Can get the same result by increasing core clocks and leaving the voltage. Anything higher than 25mv doesn't register and will still run at 1.187.

It's clocks higher than the Asus card but doesn't go as high on the voltage as 1.187 seems to be the limit. The Asus card does 1.200.

I do prefer the Gigabyte card though and will keep it. Default core clock out of the box is 1137 boost which is perfect for my gaming needs.

My pair of 780's arrived today, just installed them and both running cool and quiet. Been using msi afterburner up to now but want to change to take advantage of new features..what am i looking for gpu tweak and precision x?

Now settled for 1070 core which boost to 1202 and 1742 memory which is just under 7ghz giving a bandwidth of 334.5gb/s. All on 1.187 voltage which keeps temps below 70c.

Totally satisfied with the Gigabyte ghz edition.

Really looking forward to my 2 wind-force ghz 780's arriving on Tuesday...great to hear they are as quiet as you have reported...what are your idle and load temps?

About 33 degrees and playing BF4 scan hit 69 degrees. The hottest I have ever seen it is 72 degrees. This is over clocked running at 1174 boost clock.

If you're using Afterburner already then there's no real need to change, unless you prefer the gui of PrecisionX.

Just make sure your version of Afterburner is a fairly recent one which shows you power & temp target sliders.

Just in the process of sending back my 7970 Matrix and investing a bit more with a 780. I am not really into benching and would just like a stable solid card to last a couple of years. I am now back on my EVGA 570 SC.

What 780 would you guys recommend for me?

Managed to get 1150, and 1625 mem stable so far. Should I push the memory further? People are getting 7ghz.

I noticed that my bench scores dropped when running the memory too high probably due to error correction so I have lowered it. Memory oc didn't seem to do much anyway. Seems like any 780 tops out around the 1150 mhz mark give or take unless you go for the classified, hof and lightning versions. That's already a whopping overclock from stock.

That's what I keep forgetting, you can't put 150 offset on the core on a heavily pre clocked card unless it's one of the models already mentioned but you can on a vanilla card. I had more fun overclocking the Asus card but I prefer the Gigabyte.:)

Edit: Seems I had a slightly unstable core but now all games and benches are ok. Memory overclocking wasn't the reason after all so it's back up to 7ghz.

Clocks are now 1176 mhz in boost, 1.187 volts and 1752 mhz/ 7 ghz on the memory giving a better valley score than the previous overclock of 1202 mhz core boost without memory overclocking.

My MSI card is headed towards Smethwick, and should be here tomorrow :) Will be fun putting it through its paces, and comparing it to the ol' 7950 that's served me well over the past year.

What games work best with 3D Vision, in your experiences? I have the Batman games, Witcher 2, Civ 5, WoW, & Trine 2 installed at the moment.

Batman games are brilliant in 3d, though the best imo are tomb raider, crysis 2 & 3 :)

TR will blow your mind in 3d :D
