GTX 780 Ti Specifications Leaked – Full Blown Gk110 Core with 2880 SP

I would be happy to bite my tongue and pay out the extra cost for two GTX 780ti's over the price of two normal GTX 780's

But there no games out that need anywhere near the performance of an SLI 780ti setup at 1440p..
So I would be just wasting my money..

But the e-penis in me wants the fastest.........:(

Yeah, the TDP. Power consumption could be different.

True, I think both cards can potentially pull a lot of juice. I still think the 780ti will use less power as Nvidia touted it as quiet and cool in their tech day thing. The 290X is already well known power hog, so the 780ti has some wiggle room to be as efficient. Hopefully get some reviews soon.

Launch price £550? Or could it be more?

There is something satisfying about owning the best, even though we don't need it. Common sense does point at a pair of 780's and at the prices they are/were, a huge saving on what they were and will see any game for a good couple of years (excluding Crysis 4/5/6/7/8/9/) :D

^^ Jen-Hsun said it was to be the best single-GPU available – cool, quiet, fast, and 'low power'.

Guess we have to wait for reviews now..

Credit card on standby...

Lol of course he is going to say that. But, you still cant get 25% more performance with the same power. Its the same GK110 chip. Just by adding the extra cores you are going to be using more power. And by increasing clocks you are using more power.

If you could link to that quote i would appreciate it.

I'm pretty sure he said that at the initial unveiling last week or when ever it was.

Edit: not that I'm suggesting I would believe a word he says. He did after all once hold up a card held together with wood screws and said much the same thing.

Indeed, what is it they're claiming? 25% more performance than Titan for the same power consumption? Hmmmm.

I think the real performance clock for clock with a Titan will be about 4% more.

The real question is how does the 780ti overclock, my gut feeling is it won't be any better than a Titan. NVidia can change the power circuitry but they can not change the basic GK110 chip.

Something that could help the 780ti is the memory clock, most Titans can do 7000mhz as well but again how high will the vram on the 780ti go, will it be as good as the stuff on the GTX 770 which can hit 8000mhz.

Ha, yeah he wouldn't make those statements if they weren't going to back them up. Obviously it is going to be the fastest GPU. Also just because it is derived from GK110, doesn't mean improvements / changes can't be made. It could have have been tweaked for improved power consumption etc, a good example is 5800K > 6800K, same chip revised for improved power consumption and overclocking on the same die node. It does happen 4870 > 4890 and so on..

Nvidia have had a lot of time to optimize GK110, the 780ti could well be more power efficient than the original Titan and far more powerful in games.

Here's the announcement video below, also something else you don't usually see from Nvidia.

It all depends on how much of an overclock was on the ti as there's cards on here thats faster. I think its kaaps r9 290x on air is scoring over 6000.

Edit I see the card was boosting to 1321 which is pretty high so the overall score is nothing special. Could be a fake though. How does the graphics score compare?

Boom, i know you love Nvidia, but, come on, He has told some pretty good Lies before. Jokester made reference to one whopper he told. The two examples you gave for power use are bad examples. The 5800k to 6800k are APU's, the powersaving was made by managing the way the cpu and gpu work together better. For your other example, the 4870 and 4890, you do realise that the 4890 was a different chip entirely? RV770 to RV790. Even if they were the same chip, it still wouldn't support your argument, because while the 4890 used less power at idle, it did use way more under load.

We know the 780Ti is a GK110 chip. We know the GK110 is very efficient as it was designed to work in supercomputers with strict power demands. You think they are somehow magically create more performance for less power?

It will definitely be cooler and quieter than the 290x but will it be cooler and quieter than a stock 780?

But you would have to be living in dreamland to think it is going to use less power than the titan.
