Guild Wars 2

£12 is more than worth it even just for the solo gameplay experience. As long as the servers are alive and the game is playable, its worth every penny.

We will see on monday. ;)

Totally agree with you though, it will be amazing! :D

Well i played it at Eurogamer Expo in September and fell in love with it then. I was so happy i got to have a play as i have been waiting for the game for years, it certainly lived up to my expectations and that was only a small snippet of the game.

I've been so excited about this game since the original rumours of it. I actually try and stay away from this thread to keep the game more of a surprise for me when it is released, but it's just not working. So I guess when I get in a beta, my life as I know it, will be over. :p

I find the reaction to the console news amusing. Back when those outside the fanbase hadn't even noticed Gw2 it was previously mentioned in a conference call that they had a small team looking into the possibility of a console version.

Can someone briefly explain the GW2 business model?

Usual MMO fare, less the subscription fee.

They sell copies of the game, vanity items and almost certainly -- expansion packs.

Never played GW1. Worth me grabbing it on steam for £12? do people still play it?

It's not something I would play solo, especially at this point. It also has pretty much no bearing on GW2 aside from lore and some vanity items.

A lot of content for £12 though.

Just looked on steam at GW1 and theres a lot of different ones on there. Game of the year is £12 was thinking of getting it. Looks fun but not sure, what one should i get if i do get it, and is it worth getting now?

Did you end up getting it?

Guild Wars 2 sounds like it has the potential to grab the MMO genre by the balls :)

300 people pvp battles in World vs World vs World, no questing just dynamic events with long phase timers :)

This has the potential to provide different gameplay with alts with different dynamic event phases.

Can't wait to hear the beta reviews 2moz :)

After not being blown away by SWTOR I'm looking forward to giving GW2 a try. I never played on GW1, for those who did play GW1, do you think it would be worth playing now?

This late in the day probably not unless you want to earn some vanity items which you can unlock toward GW2.

Wonder if any sites will release info at 12 tonight or will they have to abide with American time? Anyone know?

EDIT: If this was the case then Australia would have news out, searching now.

Well most of them will have been playing throughout the weekend to get maximum footage, they then need to commentate etc. and turn it into a video so it might be a while 'til we start getting vids of it.

From a quick bit of research, I believe Arenanet are based in Bellevue, Washington and I'm guessing no information is allowed to be leaked until atleast midnight in Bellevue so info should start coming out 8 am tomorrow.

Ahh nice work, means when I get back home tomorrow there should be tons of videos and write-ups about the game.

So is there any NDA of this beta weekend?

There is an NDA for the duration of this test, although it will be dropped at 9pm tomorrow so tons of reviews etc. will hit the net not long after that.
