Guild Wars 2

none at all :D

Just the £30-40 for the game itself, and that's it.

o.o

Is this a guild wars thing or an arenanet thing or something?
Pretty much every MMORPG i've played has been a first fee of £20 or so, then monthly payments of £4-9 on top of that.

Surely they wouldn't be generating enough to bring out regular updates?

Guild Wars 1 was (is) no monthly fee's. And it's getting on for almost 7 years old now. Apparently they can fund it just fine :D

They must be happy with the amount they make from vanity item sales in their market area for guild wars 1, you can also buy skill packs and obviously the 3 addons to the original game, if this game ends up being as good to play as it looks then they should make an absolute **** load of money from game sales alone.

I love being able to stop playing guild wars and then just come back to it a few years later and play from where i left off without having to go through any financial requirements, it's one of the things that made GW1 great.

Bizzarre.
Perhaps it's because most people just play for a few months at most or something? So the £20 or so difference between GW1 and say RIFT is made up in the few months playing.

Updates will probably be minor like game balance. If GW1 is anything to go by they will likely sell expansions yearly, as well as vanity gear.

Edit - GW1 isnt an MMORPG, so this is pretty much treading new waters.

Yeah I remember picking up my GW1 account again after an extended break, and then buying more character slots.

Its a pretty good business model if you have the right game for it, and GW is certainly the right game.

Lol, why are people still so shocked by the lack of fees? Monthly fees for MMOs are a bizarre scam that too many gamers have been brainwashed into paying.

Plenty of info available on this if you google / YouTube search 'guildwars fees'.

Both arena net and turbine comfortably earn far more money through not having sub fees than they would or did with fees.

Don't start banging this old drum again :(

Getting away from the subscription debate and back to GW2, NDA should be down so has anybody seen any new videos? If so feel free to share with everybody.

EDIT: Found this from MikeB. No idea if it is any good as I haven't watched it yet..
