Guild Wars 2

You both mad. Of course its like GW1. Im slightly confused how you could have thought its not.

Depends on what context you're all talking about, the game mechanics and style of play etc. are all TOTALLY different, the only thing that is the same are the principles behind it like the story, classes etc.

it looks like just another lame mmo to me with terrible animations etc.

You can't deny they are trying to revolutionise/change the way the future of MMO will cater to players.
I for one welcome all future mmos to be scalable in content/difficulty and remove the whole idea of max group sizes for world content, in fact if anyone didn't like it there's something seriously wrong with them.

Soon, all these old methods will be looked down upon as old hat, out of date and bad mechanics.

Change is probably the better word, its pretty much just iterating on the public quest system that everyone is adopting at the moment.

Still interesting though.

My worry, which a few reviews have mentioned, is the lag in pvp. I only really care about the pvp because I doubt the rest will be half as amazing as their PR has made it sound, but of the giant battles are just giant lagfests that would be annoying and pointless.

Yeah I've seen a fair few vids of mass pvp and the performance being dire.

However, no mention of specs, settings used, how many people and generally, recording lowers performance too.

But I still worry :(

As long as it is better than Ilum in SWTOR. The performance there is dreadful even on decent machines in 30v30 battles, which means my older machine has no chance. Hopefully GW2 will be more optimized than that.

It should be remembered that this was in effect a proper beta test, not one of the early start beta's people have got used to.

Arenanet hasn't even started to optimise the game properly yet as it's coding and gameplay isn't done yet. For example the game client was probably running all sorts of debug and traffic monitoring code which it won't be doing in the release version.

As mentioned above, there's also the issue of running fraps etc which always hammers frame rates.

Basically, the games not done and needs lots of optimisation so any doubts or issues about the performance should wait until it is :)

Also about the performance, if they stick to the same principles of Guild Wars 1 that could run on any old machine (which as far as i'm aware they are doing) then I can't see the engine having any issues when it comes to large scale battles. Arena net aren't under the grip of EA and aren't going to be forced to push this game out whether it's finished or not. I'm sure they will be able to fully optimise it and as they have already stated release it 'when its ready'.

Hi guys, sorry but I am at work and a lot of Web-sites are blocked with 'gaming'

I have been waiting for this, but havent looked into it because I found that I did that and all the hype didnt make SWTOR as good as I thought. I was just wondering If there is a release date yet? and I have never played GW1 so is it worth putting on my comp until I wait? and what will GW1 look like on my spec? I dont like playing games with rather bad graphics.
