Guild Wars 2

My only issue at the moment is the running animation, or at least, the way the character seems to interact with the ground beneath them. The players look too much like they are gliding about on ice rather than making any impact on the floor, and it doesn't look as if they are "pushing off" when they start to move. Strafing in particular just doesn't look nearly as good as other games.

Surely stuff like that can be ironed out before release? It's not a game-changer, but aesthetically it's really going to bug me.

When you run out of health, you don't die you just get knocked down, which limits you to 4 types of abilities you can keep using, and if someone (or your pet for rangers) runs over to you they can revive you back into a normal state, with more people reviving you at the same time making it go faster. If the thing that knocked you down is too tough to finish off or you don't get revived you will eventually be fully dead.

All players also have a move called stomp that will cast for around 3 seconds and will kill you aswell.

I know what you mean, i agree but it doesn't look like it will bug me at all.

It could probably be ironed out before release, question is do they feel it needs to? I am not bothered either way, i'll still get the game.

Lol when are ppl gonna realise the miracle patch debug code running in background is ********. I have heard that in every mmo ever launched

I have to completely agree with you. Unfortunately, every GW2 gameplay videos I've seen over the past couple of years has this gliding animation over the surface so I do not expect it to be any different when the full game is released. I find incredibly annoying and it really will bother me, particularly when you consider how amazing everything else is/looks in the game.

ArenaNet haven't shied away from stating their intent of GW2 being the "best MMORPG ever". The game would work with it in it's current state, yes, but for the level they are reaching for is it really reassurring for them to take a "that'll do" attitude?

And if they're serious about the level of detail and polish they're going to achieve before release, something as small as a running animation tweak is surely something that isn't beyond their ability? It's not as if the game has been built on a bad engine and everything would need an overhaul.

Hard to find this specific info, how do starter zones work if two friends play say, norn/charr and want to play in the norn starter area, is it easy/possible? If anyone even knows.

There are Asura gates in each of the starting cities so you can teleport to any city. However clearly you wouldn't be able to complete your personal story in the other starting areas.

Is there a point that all classes meet up? If so I normally use this time to get to know the character and its surroundings then meet others at a point :)

If they are not up to the point I am I always make an alt that I would Level up on my own. It tends to be the opposite faction but there doesnt seem have this in GW (havent played the first 1)

And no1 answered my previous question so probs just leave it alone

Yeah thats fine, you can always go back and get downranked and still do it :p

You can't deny they are trying to revolutionise/change the way the future of MMO will cater to players.
I for one welcome all future mmos to be scalable in content/difficulty and remove the whole idea of max group sizes for world content, in fact if anyone didn't like it there's something seriously wrong with them.

Soon, all these old methods will be looked down upon as old hat, out of date and bad mechanics.

Just to put this into perspective, I've been playing DDO for the last few weeks, and this is a very common occurance:

- Join a group of 6 players for an epic quest (extreme difficulty, needs a full group, cannot be soloed)

- 2 people have not a clue what they are doing, have never done the quest before, and keep on getting lost every 5 minutes and seem completely incapable of following anyone or using the in game map (nothing but pure herp derp morons that seem to have special mental needs).

- 1 person has his mic set to ear splitting deafeningly loud, refuses to turn it down, and the leader doesnt seem to care in the slightest and keeps him in the group. Even if you turn your volume as low as it will go, you can still hear him at full volume with his mic popping, crackling and breaking up yelling obscenities and screaming into his mic constantly until you leave the group.

- The healer DCs about 75% though the quest right before the end fight, and doesnt reconnect for 10+ minutes.

- One person is impatient due to joining a 1+ hour epic quest when he only has 20 mins, and tells everyone to start zerging with a disconnected healer because he cant stay any longer.

- Everyone just runs everywhere and anywhere, scattered all over the map, and get lost or dead within two minutes.

I. AM. FED. UP. OF. UNFUN. PARTY. BASED. MMOS. THAT. NEED. HEALERS. TANKS. AND. DPS. AND. MORONS. PLAYING. THEM. WHO. I. AM. FORCED. TO. GROUP. WITH.

Oh. and that didnt even mention the 30-60 minute long wait time required to assemble the group in the first place.

GW2:

- No more waiting to find a full group all the time due to content scaling
- No need to send an hour looking for a healer
- If someone disconnects, not a problem you can still win
- All classes can handle the game. If I'm a warrior, and all the people I want to play with have warriors too, thats not a problem we can still play the game together
- If someone is bat poop retarded and cant even learn the simplest easiest things or follow advice / instructions, thats not a problem because you can ignore them and get on with playing the game without them.

In the future, all MMOs will be removing the single worst aspect of this genre - having to depend on a group of morons to be able to play the game.

Yeah they are pushing for this to become the biggest MMO since WOW. I wasn't saying it was fine as it is, just that if they decided to i could deal with it without bugging me whilst playing.

I hope they do sort it out though, it's little things like that which ruin it for others and shows whether they care or not about the game.

So hopefully these little things get corrected/changed before release.

Hi guys, sorry but I am at work and a lot of Web-sites are blocked with 'gaming'

I have been waiting for this, but havent looked into it because I found that I did that and all the hype didnt make SWTOR as good as I thought. I was just wondering If there is a release date yet? and I have never played GW1 so is it worth putting on my comp until I wait? and what will GW1 look like on my spec? I dont like playing games with rather bad graphics.

no1 seems to be helping me out or looking at my posts :(

You have to understand that the beta is limited to just a limited number of people. There simply isn't the info out there to know how well it will run using x y or z components. Looking at your spec it will run though, but how well it will run you will just have to wait. As for a point where all classes meet up, well that is pretty much a sure thing, would be silly to keep all the races apart forever.
