Guild Wars 2

Anyone know a good way of getting into a dugeon group? Curently have a level 15 ele on gandara looking to see what the dugeons are like as i didnt get to see them last time.

The only dungeon in the game currently is the Ascalon Catacombs. You need to be level 30 to attempt it in Story mode. You need to be level 35 to attempt Explorable mode which is only unlocked once you have done Story mode.

To enter the dungeon, just goto the Ascalon Catacombs waypoint, just to the north of which, is a set of steps going down to a portal. Enter the portal and you'll get asked if you want to enter the instance or stay in the world.

To complete Story mode, you need to meet up with Eir. Then you have to defeat the Veteran Captain. After which you have to kill 3 Ranger Ghosts originally from GW1, and then you kill King Adlebern.

The reward for completing is a Rare helmet/hat (depending on profession).

Even though they have clearly stated the game's CPU bound in most cases?

It wasn't an upgrade just for Guild Wars 2, it was an upgrade as I also play BF3 and a few other games, and my old GTX 280 was stuggling and could also have been used as a room heater when playing games.
The extra RAM was just because it's pretty cheap and I do quite often max out 6Gb of RAM.

Hopefully the upgrade will help it run Planetside 2 nicely whenever it is released.

Did you see any difference in this beta with the 670? I have just upgraded to one.

Yeah, I don't have the jerky/sluggishness that I experienced with my old GTX 280, and now I've everything turned up except AA.
Still some noticeable slow downs when in large groups but that's to be expected especially as they've stated it's CPU bound at the moment so my i7 920 at stock clocks would be my bottleneck.

WvW was a total washout on Desolation this time around. We held everything possible, all weekend. :( My only kill was a chicken.

Now I can't decide on Guardian or going Warrior with a dual wield mayhem/long bow set up. 'tis a shame engineer sucks though or I might have gone that way.

The only solid bug I came across was while playing my Guardian storyline. It repeatedly crashed me hard to a black screen with my monitor cycling through sources.

Engineer sucks now, but it's guaranteed to get a boost if they devs feel it's necessary, always the case in games - nerf/boost constantly to keep it fresh whilst claiming it's for balance ;)

Only for the Beta, the final release will also demand the GPU quite fairly..

Dev speak.... I'll happily eat my hat if performance quadruples before launch, but Rift couldn't manage it when they had performance issues in beta, oh it's beta everyone says but little ever changes before launch.

It always annoys me when people say these games are cpu limited, I look at the 40% odd gpu usage, and then I look at my cpu usage and it's at about 45%. I don't know anything about game programming or programming in general but I wish it'd use all of the capabilities of my computer.

Whats wrong with Engineer at the moment, then? I didn't see too many problems with it when I was playing. One thing I did notice was that in WvWvW (which I've been having huge amounts of fun with on Divinity Coast) engineer has little range and no aoe. I was either in the front line getting my ass handed to me or running around with my medkit.

I wish more of the classes were more fun to me. The other class I was looking at was the elementalist but it really didn't seem that much fun.

Correction - management/PR speak, I can bet that devs wont' be making promises like that.

yup in Desolation we have pretty much PWNED WvWvW

Been playing a human necromancer, and I'm enjoying it, although I'm not sure what my DPS is like compared to other classes. Anyone have any idea what the best DPS class is at the moment?

I wanna play :) just been watching lots of gameplay on Youtube, hate when I see something that shows you something your supposed to work out for yourself though. I didn't know about the jumping puzzles and watched a video of someone jumping around a castle, I thought it was interesting that they hadn't hit any invisible walls and and kept watching to see how far they could go and they ended up finding a letter!

Wish I could erase my memory or I'll feel like I've cheated if I ever pick up that letter! hopefully completely forget about it before I play the game.

Right, just go and release it at this stage please :)

I think they continued tweaking it throughout the weekend, it was silky smooth for me tonight with everything except fxaa maxed. I still have no idea what class I'll play at release though.

On my GTX460 it was very smooth, although I've just jumped up to an i5 since the last beta, so that might well be accounting for it. I did have a mass fight too with around 40 people killing a mob and it was surprisingly smooth!

Looking forward to release :)
