Guild Wars 2

I just re-installed this to try it again over the weekend :)

Logged in to find 3 of my characters have birthday gifts (don't think I've been on for 6 months)

The main problem I seem to have is accumulating stuff
My bank is full and my mule characters bags are full

I have 20 unidentified dye also  :D

I feel like starting again on a new character as I've been away from the game for so long

Just got back to this, lots of changes and learning to do.

Also really want ascended weapons.... and armour... damnit.

A staff on paper doesnt look too bad. Its the hidden cost/time that worries me.

Any casual guilds out there? I'll straight up admit i dont have a huge amount of time to play. and usually burn out after 4 months and go inactive. Would be nice to have a relaxed place to come back to when i get the urge. But also able to do higher level (mostly PvE) content with. (Fractals and the like) as well as a bit of WvW i guess. I'm on gandara but more than happy to switch, got a few gems in reserve for this kind of situation.

Create a Guild, spend Laurels to get the required Influence and then buy a Guild Bank. That's a quick 50 extra slots right there.
Nice :D

I didn't realize you could be in more than one guild at a time, just watched some videos regarding a personal bank for storage :)

How much are laurels worth?

The gw2 wiki says 16 luarels buys 2000 influence (2 letters ) or you can pay 2 gold for 1000 influence from a guild promoter

Nice. For the zones I have visited there have been lots of people walking around. World bosses are packed with people now. The downsides are longer loading times and less FPS due to the amount of player models now on screen. I've actually changed my player limit on my client to medium. A good problem to have though.

Are Mesmers still overpowered? The last time I played my team wiped on a dungeon and I ended up soloing it.

No, mesmers have been handled pretty badly in balance changes, leading to being mediocre at anything other than 1v1 duelling.

I don't pve much, but from what I've seen they are not favoured in the dungeon meta at the moment.

In pvp, thieves are a complete hard counter and mesmer has no defined role. Sure, you can easily wreck stuff in hotjoin, but that's goes for any class.

In wvw we are at a serious disadvantage in large groups - enjoy being on demand utility bot (veil, portal...).

As for roaming, lack of speed necessitates use of traveler or similar runes, and you still won't easily be able to chase down certain opponents (warriors and thieves...). Thieves again like in pvp are a complete hard counter in most cases.

Only condition mesmer builds are in any decent state at the moment - the most powerful being with prismatic understanding - but you can easily just run away from such a mesmer and they will have a hard time chasing or killing you.

The ferocity change has hit power builds hard - shatter is now a very high skill build - still my preferred playstyle, but you have to work twice as hard to compete with other classes.

Nevermind the consistent breaking of skills (now iwarden among other things), so you've got to play even better.

I could go on, but mesmer is not in a great state right now - only die hards sticking with it (I enjoy the style too much). Sure, you will still stomp noobs who don't understand the mesmer's mechanics, but against any semi-competent player or group you will have a hard time.

Festival of the Four Winds - 20th May 14

http://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/prepare-for-the-festival-of-the-four-winds/

As part of the celebration of our launch in China, we’re holding an in-game festival that brings back some of the best-loved Living World content! The Zephyrites have returned to the Labyrinthine Cliffs to do business and trade their goods, and Queen Jennah has reopened the Crown Pavilion. Experience the joy of movement as you harness the power of the Zephyrites’ aspect crystals, or put your battle skills to the test in the Crown Pavilion and Queen’s Gauntlet.
Get ready: the Festival of the Four Winds begins on May 20!

Queens Gauntlet and and Zephyr Sanctum make a return, with some new stuff added.

Guild Wars 2 officially launches in China this coming Thursday, but folks in the rest of the world have had little reason to get excited... until now. ArenaNet and Chinese publisher KongZhong have just announced a global in-game festival to celebrate the launch, one we'll get to enjoy ourselves come next week. The Festival of the Four Winds arrives on May 20th for North American and European players, who will "get the opportunity to help rebuild the beloved city of Lion's Arch that was destroyed by Scarlet [Briar] in Season 1." Future game updates will be "synchronized" across the eastern and western regions so that they launch within days of each other.

I'm glad to see Zephyr Sanctum return - definitely one of the better areas they have created.

Going to be interesting to see how this Chinese release affects things - is their TP merged with ours? I haven't read much into it so not sure.

Their wvw server names are very strange though.

Their wvw server names are very strange though.

Many of the weird server names are just bad translations.

De Weina for example should be Dwayna.

Passphrase Mission should be Order of Whispers.

Fear Gulf is meant to be Dreadfall Bay

God of Language is supposed to be Godsword.

etc etc

In other news, a guildy of mine just finished their pet project yesterday:

One of every race and class combo at lv80.

Someone was looking at one of each sex too but stopped when they noticed you can only get a max of 64 character slots.

I have one of each profession, but only 4 are level 80 before I got very bored. They now camp iron ore nodes to make me some money ;)

Regarding server names - I meant what they are called rather than translations. A bit weird to be on a server named "Dwayna"! :D

That's crazy - I only play one character. I like asura #6 with the pink hair and sunglasses!

Popped onto my account, bit of spur of the moment

Account wide dyes is an awesome change (testement to not playing for some time).. don't know exactly when this happenned but my jaw dropped at being left with almost 500 gold worth of unidentified dyes (have one character for each profession and although i certainly don't have time to level them all had a habit of collecting dyes for all of them)

Took half an hour just to get them all moved into one place for organization purposes

Its not a lot if you've played without break but for the likes of myself that rarely plays its a lot :) can finally get some bigger bags hehe

New cosmetic system for gear is quite quirky as well.. no more annoying stones taking up bank space
Hopefully they do the same with boosters as I have a crapton of them
