Guild Wars 2

Well several things have made me quit, at least until they are sorted out:
- lack of pvp game modes
- lack of wvw development (eotm doesn't count as proper wvw)
- giving Mesmer the middle finger every patch (ileap "fix" really kittened me off)

It's just completely stale. The only reason I continued to play for so long is because I love pvp combat and love the Mesmer mechanics (the ones that aren't broken). GS + Sw/T full zerker shatter is just so much fun to play, but the lack of variety in pvp modes is a big problem.

In normal pvp everyone is so ******* anal about conquest, and Mesmer is pigeonholed into GS+staff boon strip shatter and use portal in order to help the team (you've no idea how much I dislike that build and people that force you to play it), that I prefer to play hotjoin where you can actually skirmish like small scale wvw - I've had some fantastic 1v1 fights in hotjoin.

In wvw we're all labelled as PU noobs no matter what build you play - despite every other build being sub par for roaming and having zero usefulness beyond veil/portal in large groups since things like glamour/confusion were destroyed.

Until Anet get their collective heads out of their ***** and fix Mesmer build variety and viability, as well as adding new pvp game modes and something for wvw, I have no incentive to play.

Even with playing shatter - there's only so much you can play before it becomes repetitive, nevermind all the cheese builds and hard counters you have to deal with all the time.

Yes I'm very disillusioned with GW2 at the moment. I will say I do like Taimi from the LS - hands down my favourite character in the game (Sieran close behind).

glamour/confusion were destroyed.

I loved glamour mes in WvW back then, drop glamours and watch a blob melt - but the state of conditions in general in the game is just a complete mess. Nice that another feature patch is coming but I really think they should just knock this living story malarkey on the head for a good 6 months and just focus completely on QoL of the classes / ui / game systems etc.

On the subject of Skill Bar notes on upcoming patch regarding mesmer: not impressed.

6 months and this is all they could come up with?

Good iWarden should be fixed.

Good iLeap clone will appear at target, but still screwed by simply breathing on the clone and now even more susceptible to pbaoe (for example fighting an ele or necro). No skill/baiting involved - mindless 3->3 spam encouraged to land Swap. Should have reverted no Swap on clone death - half the player skill came from timing and positioning just right, now you have to just 3->3 or risk losing the ability to Swap entirely. Ok the clone blinks to target, but at this rate they should just change it back to beta Leap where you leap at the enemy leaving a clone in place and can swap back to it (like Feigned Surge).

Ok mantras get a nice buff.

Mimic change - what is this I don't even... just makes no sense and makes another unique skill dull. Arcane Thievery already fits this purpose (yes only limited boon steal). Should have made more emphasis on mimic reflection shield and maybe if taking X amount of damage explode for aoe blast echo and perhaps be a blast finisher.

iElasticity and scepter AA torment will make PU condition even more of a disgusting build to fight.

Nothing else noteworthy tbh.

So incredibly underwhelming after 6 months, I don't know what to say. This game is such an enormous waste of potential.

HI guys didn't know this thread existed,:D:D I used to love GW2 at first however compared to say wow the world is small and i feel i have been to every region 5 times over.
Do we know if anymore regions are going to be added? I guess its still not bad size considering after you buy it, its free compared to wow which charge a hefty £10 a month.

I'm assuming you've raised the issue with Anet support? Never had that problem myself, hopefully they can fix it for you.

Regarding regions - not much new added - Dry Top, Southsun Cove, EotM... that's about it for large permanent additions.

IMO play this game for pvp/wvw or casual pve living story. Normal pve is awful and not worth bothering with beyond levelling, earning cash or completing map achievements. Enemy AI is stupid and contrived as in every mmo.

GW2's strength and reason for playing, aside from having one of the best environmental design teams in the industry, is the very fluid action /tps style combat, which personally I think is still the best compared to similar games. I've had more fun playing shatter Mesmer than many other games I've played in the past.

Where GW2 commits a criminal offence is in having only one pvp game mode and largely ignoring wvw improvements/additions. They are sitting on gold dust with the combat model, but idiotic balancing together with ridiculous decision making on the direction of the game is driving it into the ground.

I had read that senior management at Anet is out of touch with the devs "on the front line" so to speak, which is preventing this game from achieving its full potential. Obviously taken with salt, but could be something in it based on the direction the game has gone in since launch.

Hi All

Havent really been about the games forums like ever. Been Playing GW2 now for like 2 years. Just recently upgraded my pc (Spec in RIG)

I previously owned FX8350, V Formula Z and 4x4Gb 1866mhz ram

I have a very poor 2mb/s internet connection with the old build in Large Zergs my FPS would drop as low as 5-6 and woundnt see above 14 at times.

However on changing to the new Z97 Devils canyon build. In the same senarios i havent yet seen the FPS drop below 17FPS and can get as high as 32FPS.

Yes i kid you not i have found over 100% FPS increase on this game moving from AMD- INTEL.

So how do I unlock it now? :)

You can get to Dry Top by going through the portal to the SW of Brisban Wildlands.

The gemstore stuff is only if you want to play the new living story content. Dry Top is accessible to all even without it.

Intel rules in MMOs because most of them are poorly threaded and only use one or two cores.

Yup, nearly every MMO is very very CPU dependent. GW2 is one of the few games where I can actually see the difference between running stock clocks and OC'd. Huge FPS boost at 4.4GHz vs 3.6GHz.

Yeah, cos it was really difficult to find them beforehand. Level-locking the weapon skills is awful, you're stuck with the same few skills until you hit level x now because it might overload your brain to unlock them all at once.

I hate being patronised in a game, and GW2 really treats you like a moron for the first 15 levels now.

From ANet:

"For example, rallying from the downed state can be overwhelming to a brand-new Guild Wars 2 player. We’ve moved the downed state to unlock at level five so players have time to learn the basics of combat before they experience this system"

Yes, I was completely 'overwhelmed' the first time I was ever downed. I didn't get over it for weeks :p
