Guild Wars 2

Is it worth the £8.50? I enjoyed WoW up until WOTLK, really tempted by this, haven't played an MMO in a long while! Also, what kind of caster classes does the game have? Always played a Warlock in WoW.

EDIT: Also, what server is everyone on?

I would say it's definitely worth it.

I think gw2 has proven to be a bit marmite as a lot of people like the structure that the trinity brings but for me it's perfect and for £8.50 easily worth it.

Recently in having the most mmo fun and desire to play since back in my hardcore raider days of wow.

Easily worth 8.50 of anyone's money. That's a lot of game for that price!

There are three main caster classes. Mesmer, Necro's and ele's. All very different game play styles.

Not played personally for a while, with work issues. But when i do its still very populated. With the upcoming expansion its about to get real busy again no doubt. A good time to buy ;)

Quite a few peeps on either Gunnar's hold or Desolation i think. But with the mega server, that's only really an issue if you are going to be doing a lot of WvW and you want to be with your guild on missions etc. All the rest you can do on any home world i think.

Thanks for the info guys! Bought and downloaded the game, got to level 6 as a Necromancer. It is a lot of fun with the scepter equipped! I really like how your skill set changes depending on what you have equipped.

Just farming TA forward and up at the moment for the weapons, it's surprisingly easy dungeon though with an inexperienced group I could see it being torture! :p

Getting a tonne of gold from the daily events too, need to get stuck into Arah too for the kit, so much to do :p

I have recently been thinking about starting GW2 again but haven't really played it for a couple of years. How has it progressed and has it improved much in recent times?

I got it when it was half price for £17.50 last year. I think it was good value at that. At £8.50 for a well made MMO game with no sub, it's a no brainer purchase for anyone who likes MMO games.

What settings are you guys running this game on?

i5 4670k
8GB DDR3
290 GFX

I have pretty much everything on the highest apart from shadows and sampling. If I put supersampling on I get to many FPS drops

I do still get some FPS drops in cities/towns though and some times when just roaming. I did expect to be able to play this game full max at 60 FPS with my specs

Running at 4.2Ghz on my 4670k now and everytime something big happens on screen I get split second lag till the FPS stabilizes again.

Turning high res character textures seem to help a bit but can't tell if it makes much of a visual difference

i3 2120 3.30
R9 270X
1680 x 1050

Everything on highest apart from character model (high) and I turn down the player limit to medium when boss killing. Perfectly playable at all times, just a small amount of slow down when boss fighting. nothing that impacts on the 5 minutes it takes to down a boss.
