Guild Wars 2

~60fps in open world, but during some world bosses and WvW blobs the FPS drops into the teens, and sometimes it actually drops to single figures.

And changing the settings doesn't help much right? For me it makes very little difference apart from the character amount/quality setting which I have on low, even on best performance so it looks like an N64 game it drops as low as 15fps. I've noticed a significant drop since the 31st patch, I've easily lost 10-15fps since then, literally over night.

Check your camera/fov settings since that camera patch - if it's too wide it can cause a performance loss.

I keep everything on highest unless im on WVW and world bosses, then its its as simple as lowering the model limit to medium.

Just finished off zhaitan with a group of friends from the guild, the mission itself was a good challenge, but zhaitan him self was like swatting a fly...very anti-climactic

Yeah, personal story Arah is weak.

Well tbh everything after the Order missions falls into the usual generic cheesy nonsnse. The best part of the personal stories has to be the asura racial storyline.

On a related note - I happened to play Arah story mode during April fools day a few weeks ago - the sepia filter actually made it look way more impressive than normal.

I'm really looking forward to this add-on. I know GW2 was advertised as being 'no paid for add-ons' but this seemed to make it stagnate with incremental stuff. I wasaway from the game for about 12 months, and the recent changes have confused me. But despite some original misgivings it's drawing me back in.

I'm still not as hooked as I was with GW1, but the recent changes and the new add on have got me intrigued..

So I have a few characters, played initially when GW2 was launched, but had a long (cough...probably over a year or two) break..

back into the swing of it, got my Mesmer to lvl 80 (I love playing her) I think my fav play style..with a sword / focus set up.

Still relevant...a true go anywhere build... but may change when new Chronomancer skills hit?

My Ranger - Lvl 67 - love this too,(Power Roamer build)

http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Ranger_-_Power_Roamer

can be mobbed a little but a lot of fun switching between the great-sword and bow skill sets...lots of damage.

I also like my Necro (Lvl 41) but I have fallen out of love with my Ele (Lvl 67) Staff build

http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Elementalist_-_Staff

And my warrior never really gets a look in.

I have never done a single dungeon so perhaps something I will be looking into....and once you get to lvl 80...it can be a little bit of a slog....might buy HoT when it is available, I say buy as I assume it won't be free??

Just bought this on offer from the Rainforest (9.99) as I really fancied a bit of MMO for a change, and what I read suggested this is not just full of fetch quests like some others I've tried.

Are any of the OCuk guilds mentioned still active much? What server do people suggest I aim for? I thought about starting with an Engineer or Mesmer as I wanted something different to the traditional D3/WOW/LOTR classes.

Any advise welcome:-)

It claims to be different, but in my experience it's still just a bunch of kill things quests, or sometimes click on things. The main difference is there's not a quest hub, quests are given at the area they're done.

Mesmer is great although not an easy class to play - it does require a lot of effort to become proficient, especially in pvp.

Also it is not the easiest to level in pve because of the "new" trait unlock system - mesmer builds live and die by their trait choices and all the good traits are not available until you get to level 70-80, so you have been warned.

However once at 80 it is by far the most fun class to play in wvw and pvp (where you don't need to level anyway) - and you won't find this level of fun/type of class reproduced in such an elegant fashion in any other game. Power shatter builds will challenge your gameplay skills and are very satisfying visually and aurally to play, and we have access to many little tricks which once the patch and HoT hit we will hopefully be able to enjoy fully again (since currently we are quite weak in all three gamemode metas, despite having one or two "cheese" builds - such as condition PU in wvw).

Also the new chronomancer elite spec has been revealed and let's just say it is a great time for new mesmers because together with core trait changes and buffs (which we sorely needed because we are one of the weakest classes in the pvp meta) there are a lot of great ideas being theorycrafted.

Meet the Reaper - Neco Elite Specialization

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/meet-the-reaper-necromancers-elite-specialization/

The reaper’s thematic roots come from classic movie monsters and survival horror games. We pulled elements from slow but seemingly unstoppable horror monsters like Pyramid Head and Jason Voorhees to try to craft the feeling of a relentless pursuer who becomes extremely deadly once they close the distance to their prey. The greatsword is the ideal weapon for expressing this sense of dread due to its size and weight, but there was one thing that was missing—what’s a reaper without a scythe? ...
