Guild Wars 2

Just enjoy exploring whilst following your Story quests. I'm quite the altaholic so I'm casually raising the levels of my Thief (30) Warrior (35) and Guardian (36) mainly by completing zone events. I'm not a hardcore player, I run around solo but maybe one of the vet's on here can steer you onto more suited paths.

Massive thread bump, Want to get into playing my gw2 char again.

Its a level 32 Guardian

What is best to do now?

Whatever you enjoy, unlock everything and try every weapon/skill.

I'd either do pvp or explore pve and personal story while you're levelling. Save wvw for when you're 80 and geared in at least exotics otherwise you will have a hard time.

Edge of the Mists is also a good area for levelling, although following the train can become boring. It can be an interesting place for solo roaming in enemy keeps.

Quick question for you guys - bought this on release and played for around 6 months before giving up for no particular reason other than it didn't really grab me.

Has it changed much in that time?

Yes it has. In way too many ways too mention here. You've already paid for it, so just install it and see for yourself. You have nothing to lose.

There have been many quality of life changes such as the wardrobe/transmutation system. Most of the Living Story 1 stuff was temporary although they are working to make it accessible/repeatable in the future like LS2 is. Several new Zones added (Silverwastes, Dry Top), Edge of the Mists wvw map.

There will be big changes in the coming months - one patch pre HoT which will totally overhaul the trait system (it will be very different from how it is at preset), and of course HoT will introduce many new things, including elite specialisations for classes and the Revenant class, and also a new pvp mode/map, new wvw borderlands, new pve zones and content and so on.

Last time i played was when the daily system got changed and i wasn't happy with it how it changed. Iv since played once or twice but iv not got sat down for more than an hour or two. Iv not played any raids or anything yet still on first char. Don't know any powerlevel techniques or ways to get fast gold. Iv got 9 gold :(

This new expansion talk has gotten me interested again.
Didn't play much at launch, came back a year later, and stopped again.
It's something I haven't given my full attention I feel.

Since I've stopped wow, and wildstar, and I haven't got eso yet, about time I gave my "only 1 mmo a time" motto a go again with GW2...

I'm still not as hooked as I was with GW1, but the recent changes and the new add on have got me intrigued..

This.. I revisited my old gw account just to finish up HoM (vanity I know) some time ago but I actually had a really good time doing the content I had previously overlooked or ignored.

Really makes you appreciate just what great value for money this game was, being around while WoW was thriving in terms of subs... and it hits you just how absurd the range of profession abilities you had then compared to the system gw2 has

I don't mind the pricing. I would only go for the standard edition. I think it's absolutely **** though they add a new profession but omit the extra character slot from the standard package. Anet can balls.

Ultimate edition might be worthwhile tbh, the 4000 gems can unlock tons more bag/vault space which I desperately need. Yep, I think that is a totally valid reason to go Ultimate :p

I never clicked with this when it first came out but I've played a lot over the past fortnight and am really enjoying it. Got an Elementalist to mid 40's, Thief to mid 50's, and Ranger and Warrior to mid 20's. Still can't decide which one I will go with which in my eyes is a good thing.

Anyone else having problems with the official forums? I wanted to go and vent my spleen at ANet, but it seems the forums are on a go slow.

They are incredibly slow at the moment.

I'm also going to wait and see what happens - it isn't a good deal for existing players. I would have thought they could at least add the following for anyone who already owns the game:
- extra character slot(s)
- a decent amount of gems
- unique skins

Or simply offer a slight discount to people who already own the base game.

I wouldn't pre purchase this.
We are not seeing what is in the entirety of the expansion yet.
I prefer waiting closer to release or post release, so I know what is in it.
