Guys don't hate me for this!

even the new consoles struggle at 1080p.
unless you want the console exclusive games i dont see the point of going backwards.

As far as I can tell they still don't even play at true 1080p, they mostly play at 900p and for some games I think it downsamples to 1080p (which still doesn't look as good as true 1080p resolution). Plus the framerate still seems horrible from what I've seen of people playing on these new consoles.

So, OP, don't be such a dirty console peasant and buy up those PC parts :D

My 2600k and GTX 680 will still slaughter any of the new consoles when it comes to running games at 60fps in 1080p.

Yeah, it was more expensive than a console when I bought it, but it's a better experience, it does more, it's customisable.

If you can afford a PC get one, if you can't save up more.

If a game on your console runs at 60fps 720p but you would rather it was 30fps at 1080p what would you do? Oh yeah, nothing.

There are so many great games that have poor graphics, the graphical quality should not be a consideration.

A good game must have the following, it must be multiplayer, it must be competitive, it must be challenging, it must contain elements of teamwork, strategy and tactics.

Almost all RTS games i play i spend most of my time zoomed out so you cannot really see any graphics.

In FPS games lower graphics give advantage along with high contrast, it doesnt look nice but you can see enemies faster and react faster.

A game like BF4 has only graphics, the vehicles are absolute rubbish, the teamwork is rubbish, the maps are rubbish. This game and a lot of other games are made for children.

I stopped using a Pc a while ago

Then steam big picture and htpc brought it back
I revived my old desktop for gaming when I got civ v

I prefer htpc and xbox controller out of anything

Graphics do come into what a good game is though. Graphics as in art style. Also, why would you buy a game that was completely identical on both platforms but one ran at a higher res, higher FPS and had better texture quality.

It's the same point, can you afford a PC? If yes get one it IS the better platform.

There is literally no reason other than cost to get a console over a PC.

Look currently I'm having to update the specs of my PC and just 5 mins into my search the cash is evaporating from my pocket!!

So, sometimes I think damn, the PS4 is on sale for £314 lately, the **** am I doing paying so much for PC tech? Now hear me out, I am useless with a controller & generally have always been happier on a PC but it just seems the console community is getting bigger & more attention due to the cash it generates.

If I was to invest in a PS4 now it will last me till they release another gen of consoles which is normally quite a long time. So its immense bang for buck as opposed to keeping up with PC tech!?

Remind me why I'm such a PC diehard again please?

Locking at your spec it wouldn't appear that you really do need to upgrade. At most I think a newer graphics card would be enough to be able to outperform the ps4 and xbone.

Pc games are much cheaper.

I recommend getting a long hdmi cable and connecting your pc to the largest TV you have. This is what I have been doing for the last few months and for games that suit an xbox pad the experience is immeasurably better.

I prefer console gaming these days.

Got sick of focusing on tweaking graphics and performance on PC games instead of actually playing them, and the cost of keeping it up to date ended up wiping out any savings from cheaper games.

Main disadvantages are the controls for FPS games. Keyboard and mouse is just better, but luckily the PS4 controller is much better than previous ones.

And people using 4k as a PC advantage always fail to mention the ridiculous cost of a 4k monitor and PC with good enough spec to actually run modern games at that resolution with decent framrate.

You don't need to tweak settings any more, Nvidia will do it all for you in the drivers without any input from you at all. You shouldn't have to update often as it's a more powerful platform, and it doesn't negate the savings, a next gen game is £40/50, most new games on PC are £25 if you look around a little. That's £150/250 after buying 10 games. Boom brand new GTX 770.

Also, literally anything that works for PS4, Xbox works on PC, controllers, Kinect, TVs, monitor.

Also, if you already own a PC in your home then getting a good gaming PC is even easier as you don't need to get an OS and everything else.
