H&M Racism storm

Possibly controversial view here, but I immediately thought it to be a bit racist that people would be offended by this. I've always heard kids be called "little monkeys", just because the kid in this picture is black, the very fact that anyone would call it racist, is almost racist in itself... :/

Here we go again, my God you can't say anything these days with out the racist card being played, Yawn.

And it's also racist to suggest the black kid can't wear certain clothing. Black people aren't monkeys, even if people use it as a racial slur. It's people looking for things to be offensive.

As above really proper joke that this was seen as being racist, nothing can be said or done these days without someone looking for the possibility that it could be deemed as offensive in some shape or form

Companies cant win.

If H&M said in marketing meetings that they cant proceed with that shoot because it might be portrayed as racist, that statement in itself would be racist for thinking that it might be seen as racist because why cant a black child wear a cool jumper?

So they go ahead and do the shoot - racist anyway

The world is stupid, i think the sci-fi books/films that portray future advanced civilizations no longer communicating verbally, it's probably because their Societies became so retarded that any time some one spoke, it offended someone. Hence they stopped speaking in fear of offending!

The future huh?

It’s not racist to be able to figure out that black people and the word “monkey” is a risky combination.

Not at all racist, but the easily offended will call you a racist for bringing it up in the first place. "Why make an issue out of it when nobody in the meeting even brought it up, except you. I don't like your racist undertones, let the child wear the jumper" etc.

Western civilization has reached peak decadence. We will see gradual technological and medical advancement but there's no real big drive to propel humanity forward anymore.

So long as the people have their bread and their circus they will stay docile.

Let us not forget that this faux outrage is about the picture of a boy wearing clothes with a word on them that upsets them. Most of these clothes are made in sweatshops where the workers are barely earning enough money to stay alive and live in abject poverty.

Who cares about the working conditions of unseen slave labour! Something something racism something!!!

The sweatshop issue is a very good point. Those jumpers probably cost about 3p to make in the arse end of nowhere.

You’re going to need an example of people being called racist for bringing these things up in private meetings in order to explicitly avoid them happening in a public setting...

I really don't understand this line of thinking, it's not remotely racist to suggest that something might lead to a negative reaction because of historical abuse.

You'd think as we move away from racism that people would stop making these links, and assume the coincidences are insidious less often.

And yet we seem to be inferring the coincidences are insidious more often.

Is racism really getting worse? Or is identity politics just another way to divide and another 'group' to target for votes in an election.

Hmm.

The internet has given idiots a voice.

The mother has apparently spoken up and said to everyone "Get over it"

What i was shocked at was the dreadful and shameful virtue signalling from The Weekend and Pusha T, it's so obvious they wanted attention out of this

at this point, i'm almost expecting them to add "most offended person" to the new year's honours lists.

People thinking it's an easy link to make haven't seen a Rhesus Macacque then. What species are we talking about, exactly?

Christ.

Yet again something innocent being twisted to be offensive.
