H1Z1 - Zombie apocalypse sandbox from SOE

Correct, for the first two-three weeks it will be 19.99 early access then free to play thereafter. Going by their last email anyway

Anyone who pays it is an absolute tool. We need to stop this demo, I mean Alpha charging not support it. The world as gone crazy.

I'd be happy to pay the early access charge to support them, they seem like they'll crush DayZ SA, and rightly so, it's never delivered on hardly any of what it promised. If they're planning a F2P model I doubt they're bothered if they only have a small takeup for the early access.

Anyone know what they will be doing to prevent cheaters as much as they can?

I really hope they have a small team dedicated to cheat reports and watching over servers in real time..its got to the point now in Multiplayer games that an Anti cheat such as Punkbuster alone isn't effective enough,It needs real people checking player stats..monitoring servers in real time and a dedicated section on their forums for people to post video evidence of people cheating.

Looks like another standard, rushed, hit buggy zombies with wood deal again :( Why the excitement over this?

Because it actually looks like they are incorporating some decent stuff into it. Not once have I thought "crap this dev is awful" like I did with WarZ/Infestation.

No safe zones, ability to build settlements, inventory system that doesn't require a degree to use, crafting, dynamic weather, zombies that will actually act like zombies (no stand in the same place and move on the same path over and over but actually roam, especially towards sounds for miles and miles), decent ish graphics but without the need to use a super computer, none of this "spending money on mega weapons and killing everyone in sight, characters locked on a server so no server hopping, etc, etc..

tbh i'd happily pay £1 a month to play this game if it helped the developer and the servers but that's just me.

Cheating is said to be controllable but a large part of it is community based. It's the PS2 system

it'll most likely die off when people get sick of it like when people were subscribing to fileplanet for exclusive demos

Sadly the way forward, the revenue streams on pre-alpha/alpha/beta releases are so high that it will not go away anytime soon, if anything, it's going to get worse.

Just waiting for an FPS that's got nothing in but you walking around and you can just see your hands, fully funded by pre-alpha sales and built purely based on what the "community" votes for on a daily basis :D

hmmmm....*loads up kickstarter* ;)

I bet most sane people pay for 1-3 alpha/beta access before they decide never again.

I'm convinced it will slowly die off.... I remember when companies actually spent money on making a demo to get people to try their games it seems like such a long tie ago now
