Graphics were not high on the priority list for EA release, there were other features the devs wanted to ensure were available for launch and would not set a date till these systems were in and stable.
The graphics are something that can be polished up at a later date and is something that takes a lot of work and time but any company releasing a game in EA will not put that kind of time into a product at such an early stage in case the product flops.
What a lot of people fail to realize is not only is this game being released as Early Access it is also pre alpha so although they are charging $19.99 for pre alpha access the game may not even see closed beta stage this year.
For a pre alpha game I personally feel its already looking far more polished and feature rich than both DayZ and Rust with more and more features being added daily to such an extent that most of the Hizzy wiki's have given up updating with guesses until they see exactly whats there at release.
The most up to date place for any information regarding the game features right now is Reddit.
