H1Z1 - Zombie apocalypse sandbox from SOE

How come you wanted a refund Neil?

The Airdrop situation was annoying, however one of the other main reasons was many of my clan members got a refund so I didn't have any teamspeak players to play with. The early access build was also worse than what was shown in many of the streams and game play trailers. I do understand early access/alpha but not a build worse than what was shown, the Zombie AI in the trailers looked awesome, hordes, attacking ZEDS etc

No biggy, I can wait and as I said I'm not knocking any one else that is playing it :)

Fair enough :)

when is the free to play version launched ?

Rumours of a summer release, but there have been no official announcements and only hear say on reddit. Most likely Sony will try to cash in as much as possible before it goes free to play, so don't expect it any time soon, could even be next year.

I could be wrong as well

Why would anyone do that? Good they are doing it though, gets rid of the dayz kids.

LOL :D :D

Really though if you want to give your £15 to play this utter mess (I won't even call it a game), "Worth a Buy" sums it up pretty well in his H1Z1 review on youtube if you missed it?

We are led to believe that this has been in development for over a year on an existing game engine (aka Planetside 2). Gameplay in pre-release videos and twitch feeds appears to me to be of a more complete or "tweaked" version of the "game".

Like others have said this is what will kill the PC games industry if companies aren't careful. Seems all they care about these days is making a quick buck off of our anticipation of the next great game so much so they ask us to pay for the privilege of testing their un-finished (possibly never to be finished) games. If enough people purchase the early access what incentive do the companies have to finish the game production? The premium version of H1Z1 "Alpha", yes ALPHA is £30!!!! WTF? There are fully finished games available on Steam for <£15.

Everyone in our gaming clan/group was anticipating the arrival of H1Z1 so I've pushed myself to play much more of this than I would have normally. I'd rather pull my teeth out.

Everything appears to be an after-thought or been coded in the quickest way possible just to tick-off functionality requirements.

I wish the Zombie genre could just rewind back to the original Arma 2 DayZ mod. It worked! it wasn't perfect but it had the perfect atmosphere and IMHO it will never be eclipsed - the zombie genre is dead, thanks to SOE this is probably the final nail in the coffin after the previous failures of DayZ Standalone and Survivor Stories. Actually Survivor Stories WAS actually quite good and much much better than H1Z1. In fact I can't think of anything worse than H1Z1...

The whole air-drop thing and then Smedley's back-tracking on Twitter was just another confirmation of the massive cash cow that this really is. They are a business and they've seen how much money Survivor Stories and DayZ Standalone managed to pull in with the pre-release model and they've thought to themselves we want a slice of that cake too.... Kudos to them, they have become rich overnight.

Its about time someone used the World of Warcraft / Eve Online subscription model for a survival / zombie based MMO perhaps then we would have some success. But looks like the only people interested are those intent on quick get rich schemes.

Yes I've got my refund and I will be back to Breaking Point / Epoch, I will watch what happens with this and I do hope I am proven wrong! really!

I know the fan boys will no doubt wade in now to defend H1Z1, fill your boots I don't bite so you are wasting your time. If you are happy then I'm happy for you!

To sum up what "Worth a Buy" says in his review - its like someone has made this in their bedroom...

31k in game right now are saying you and your 5 clan members might not be totally right btw ;)

TBH if you don't like it I don't care m8, I for one am having a blast on it, no matter what I will get my £15 worth out of it. I don't read random reviews on youtube by people I don't even know. I always make my own mind up, right now this game is a ton of fun. Will it stay like that? Doubt it but who knows, it might well turn into another WarZ but until that time I will play it and continue to enjoy it. If it ever does get to the way you want it to be, will probs see you in game one day :)

I just don't get how you can write something about this game when it's been out for 2 days and in very very early alpha the first few months will be bug testing etc it's never been avertised as a playable game as it's not hence why it's a ea title.

You don't want the game that's up to you but people reviewing and moaning about something that has been out for 2-3 days and something that is only playable so they can get public feedback to make it better over the course of the year till it's released is a bit stupid.

people should really do some research before spending money. 15 quid is hardly a lot of money in the pc market.

I'm not for or against h1z1 I'll play it as long as its fun and with friends when we move on to something else that will be the same.

It's more fun than dayz sa in it's current state that's my opinion

Also.....

Quote from steam page

H1Z1 is currently in Early Access on Steam. With a fully transparent approach to game design and development here at SOE, we want to transform the way our players interact and participate with our games. H1Z1 Early Access is your chance to experience and make a difference in H1Z1 as it evolves throughout the development process.

The H1Z1 development team will continue to create new features and may make significant changes based on the needs of the game. Those who choose to purchase Early Access should anticipate an evolving feature set, bugs, incomplete content, missing features, and potentially game breaking issues. Early Access is designed for those wishing to support the ongoing development of H1Z1 and be a part of shaping its future.

That's the steam page for the game no details on what's in the game just the above so really everyone who expected some kinda full content game are utter idiots.

Well that was annoying, 1hr searching and all I found was 2 water bottles, no axe, no rucksack nothing.

Yeah still not much loot, although I managed to get pretty geared up today for once. Big backpack a ton of food and a handgun. Can't find no axes or metal anywhere though. People are not punching the crates, I find them all intact and inside is normally an item.

Latest from me, spent around 3 hours hunting for stuff, got a shotgun with ammo, a pistol with ammo, lots of canned food, first aid kits, axe, backpack, motorbike, helmet amongst other things. Crafted myself a shack thinking I could be safe so I alt tab to google how to lock the door and when I return someone had opened the shack and murdered me :D

I seem to be finding most stuff in the office type buildings, don't forget to get the blackberries for food - easy to find in the forests.
/suicide command can be useful too if you spawn in a crap place.

The entire 1hr never found anything in crates(other than wood plank), fridges, cars, desks etc.

Thing is seems to be to much of some things and not enough if others.
Wish they would do a realistic server. Should be millions of plastic bottles, glass and metal. You could utilized. Everything made of metal, as long as you have something to cut it and melt it down. Or tin cans just be able to melt down.

I never find anything inside containers like desks etc at all, all the loot I find is on the floor or on top of stuff. I don't bother looking inside them anymore atm. I think they have stuff on server restarts though.

Blimey have pumped 17 hours into this so far. Already got my monies worth.

I asked for a refund yesterday but while i was going through my pc files i notice that i still have the H1Z1 folder with all the files loaded. I ran he launcher and hey...i'm playing again with £15 quid back in my steam wallet.

Should i have lost the game files when i asked for a refund?

I doubt they care to much as it's going to be free, unless everyone starts doing it. Then I imagine they'll sort it out. They should have removed you from the database as owning the game, meaning you can't login but doesn't seem like they have done this for anyone.

Love that second picture. I've seen images (real or edited I'm not sure) where Medium settings looks a lot better than Ultra? is this a bug or has the image maybe been edited?#

I don't have the image anymore as the thread 404'd.
