Had an accident this morning..

doesnt it say in the highway code not to stop on amber if it will cause an accident?

Pretty much; 'You MUST stop behind the white ‘Stop’ line across your side of the road unless the light is green. If the amber light appears you may go on only if you have already crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to stop might cause a collision.'
seems car in front was to blame
trollface indeed :p

What's your opinion on the situation?

I think the claim should be made against OP's policy because the light was amber.

But OP probably feels **** enough about the extra money he's gonna have to pay out (excess, extra car insurance, rental car etc.) so people shouldn't be so quick to assemble on moral high ground for the fleeting moment of satisfaction it provides them before they forget about it and carry on to whatever next thread they're reading.

Epic thread about driving too close :)

I would just say that unfortunate as it is that every driver is confronted to make hundreds of decisions a day, this lady did (possibly the wrong one we weren't there to judge) and unfortunately you weren't prepared for it and ended in an accident.

Just learn from the experience and try not to do it again, we all make mistakes, its just part of life.

As likley as it is she will claim whiplash, unfortunately nothing you can do, just gotta grin and bear it im afraid.

All the best with the outcome

Couldnt you move into another lane?
Ive had the same thing happen to me and when i knew the brakes had no chance of stopping me in time i switched lanes.

the fact she was halfway across the line possibly had anything to do with the fact you just smashed her up the rear, obviously i mean the car...:)
