Had an accident this morning..

well its a given isnt it really. i 100% expect a whiplash claim to be laid against the op.

i would be very surprised if this doesnt happen.

two scenarios can go down:

1. genuine. someone goes into the back of you. next day you wake up and cant move - claim for whiplash

2. non genuine. someone goes into the back of you. next day wake up and realise you can rinse the poor suckers insurance for a whiplash claim.

either way, its bound to happen

Well no, there is another option, the one that 90% of people take and that is that they just dont bother with all that whiplash rubbish.

You should be breaking on an amber, it means stop!
This means 'VOLLGAS' when I'm driving.

Shocking, unfortunately, but I guess this is what happens after 2 years of driving in Brussels :(
It's something I really need to stop as I'm really not happy about it.

That, and doing the same when it turns red :o

The worst part of going for it on Amber is when the lights at whatever junction it is are just slightly out of sync. Now anyone who uses the A13/A406 roundabout (the big donut) has probably experienced exactly this. Go through literally as it's turning Red just as the lights on the other side go Red/Amber and you catch someone bombing round just perfectly timed to go through those and boom t-bone!
Usually happens every 3-4hrs and then the gap returns to 1-2 seconds red on one to red/amber on the other.
Potential speeds involved at this roundabout are quite high.

Yes but she was moving, we easily would have made it, half her car was OVER the line but she panicked and broke. I had no chance.

Wait, she was over the line but then panicked and put the slow-downs on? Wouldn't that put you into the way of oncoming traffic either infront or to the side of you? Unless you were both going 5mph then you going into the back of her is going to push her forward. Do you have a google maps link to the road out of interest?

you should have seen the amber and have been prepared to stop anyway, but no you were hoping to slip through behind the woman, but she decided to stop and as you were too close you binned it into her backend.

Hopefully she goes to helphire and stuffs your insurers, prepare for a 100% fault and premiums to go up if I was you

OPs fault, which he should know by now anyway.

With regards to amber, always prepared to stop, more so with people in-front but will happily go through them if there is no risk doing so.

the old amber gambler!

the worst of the species is at temp traffic lights at roadworks as you know the last couple at the back of a queue always try to push through as it changes or is even on red, so the person at the front of the oncoming traffic still has to wait even when his has changed to green because of the ignorant buggers trying to rush through at the last moment...and of course the people at the back of his queue will do exactly the same

The traffic light is completely irrelevant.

She stopped, the OP didn't and ran into the back of her. The traffic light is neither here nor there, it could have happened on an empty motorway and it would have been his fault.

Did something similar myself years ago, long line of traffic backing up on a bypass about half a mile from the roundabout, typical rush hour stuff - van in front stopped, I was daydreaming and looking at my dials wondering if I'd have enough fuel to get to work and ran straight into the back of him. We both got out in the middle of this huge line of traffic, no damage to van, crack on my numberplate, I apologised, he told me not to worry about it and we both got back in and carried on our journeys :D

doesnt it say in the highway code not to stop on amber if it will cause an accident? seems car in front was to blame
