hailea chiller project

ok so bit of an update
my sniper 2 mobo gave up on me last sunday so its went back for rma.....pc is currently in bits which breaks my heart so i looked in to going SB-E to see what it would cost.
i thought i would go for the 3930k but ended up looking on auction at the right time and getting a 3960x for £550 unopened retail box (who da man?) so im going to be pairing it up with a asus rampage 4 extreme and i have also got a xspc raystorm block cooler as my danger den one doesn't do socket 2011..looking at getting it built Friday night so new pics up soon.

nice job on the new upgrades dude.

loving the "underfloor" placement of the chiller.

what make was the old rad you had in there ?....looked really chunky and you was getting good temps with that as well.

hey schizo
the rad i had pre chiller was a tfc 360, it gave good temps but as you can see from one of the photos it really needed a clean although i blew it out every month or so with compressed air....maybe should have stripped it back every 6 months on hind sight:)
the control i have over temps now is amazing though i can drop 10c in the touch of a button or more

how loud is the chiller?

This is pretty awesome, made even better by the fact you live in Edinburgh!! :D

good old edinburgh :) fantastic city

its under my floor so I cant really hear it at all to be honest. its a great piece of kit and works a treat need to keep an eye on temps though because if you go more than 10c below your ambient you start to hit dew point...my wife turned up the heating a couple of degrees and i noticed a blob of condensation forming on one of my bitspower fittings so i turned of and set the chiller 2 degs higher and its fine now

I'm sorry to hear that you've had problems with your hardware :(

I'm really looking forward to hearing about the new hardware when you get it :D I bet it will be amazingly quick :D I look forward to hearing about a few comparisons :D

thanks mate :)
I will post up results and pics once its all done, tomorrow cant come quick enough to be honest. how you getting on with yours phil?

I like seeing the build mode, I think that's the best bit seeing it all go together!!

It's going really rather well thanks :D
I'm trying to work out what's a good strip size to use for the drives... I'm testing my SAS drives with ATTO and the results are all over the place but if I use HD Tune and do the same benchmark, the results are completely different, but I don't understand why or which piece of software to use!!

These SAS drives are nothing short of amazing... I'm gonna be posting some screen shots up shortly... I'm just wondering what to do about what drives to put Windows 7 on.. I've got it on a Velcoraptor at the moment, but I'm unsure if I should put it on the SAS drives instead...

Only problem is when I had the 3 580 cards, I wont have a free slot to add my sound card in........

Well I look forward to seeing a few benchies and a list of games your looking to try out on it :D

There's some serious bending going on with the 6990!!

What are you currently running the CPU at??

yeah it looks worse in the pic than it actually is...its not bent but just not lined up straight..i will straighten it tomorrow.
cpu currently at 4750mhz @ 1.264v
had it at 5250mhz @ 1.44v
have yet to play with the newest addition to the cooling :)

Oh thank god!! :)

How does the CPU compare to your previous setup?? I take it its no slouch!!

What's the newest addition to the cooling??

cpu is a rocket
i got it for £550 retail...what a bargain (so to speak)
just got 2 x dominator cooling blocks to keep the ram chilled
so now cooling:
vga
cpu
mosfets
southbridge
2 x ram banks

What did you have before?

I'm very impressed with the temps on the chiller side of things :) I think my temps are hitting about 20C with just the standard rad with an i7 @ 4.6Ghz @ 1.45vcore... :) Water temps that is!!

dominator fans on the ram if thats what you mean?
chiller is quality, temps are as cool as i want them to be with the touch of a button

Oh sorry that's me not explaining properly... I was meaning for the CPU side of things...

So you have no fans at all just a loop with everything in it or is it on separate loops? CPU and GPU that is....

What does Real Temp say your CPU temps are like when it comes to full load etc?
