Halal only outlets

I don't see a problem with Halal only restaurants?

My local KFC recently turned halal, they still get customers from many religions, and now they even get muslim customers, so it's only a good thing for business.

My local Asda store opend up a Halal shop. I agree with you, everytime I shop at Asda, I see 10-15 people shopping at their Halal Shop. its good for business.

Halal is to Muslims as Kosher is to the Jewish folks. The rules for halaal food are less stringent than the Kashrut laws. BUT the basic laws are hte same. THAT you kill the animal swiftly without scaring him or killing one animal in front of another. The person killing should be experienced and an adult. Give the animal food and water before killing it. Make sure you take the name of the MOST HIGH before killing the animal, recognizing that the animal really is the property of the Almighty Lord and you are taking life with HIS PERMISSION and for food. BE as kind to the animal as possible under the circumstances. Normally the process is so swift that the blood drains out and makes the animal black out and faints. Any movement thereafter is because of the muscles contracting.

Halal meat is made in a way to drain away blood which has many diseases and causes diseases in people who eat meat in which blood has not been drained. It is also meat that does not spoil as quickly.

Does it taste nicer or does draining it lose any of the flavour / texture?

Whilst this may have been the case in the middle east 1600 years ago with modern refrigeration and cooking methods it is now complete rubbish. Halal meat is no safer than non-halal meat. Don't try and dress up a purely religious requirement in psuedo science.

Refridgeration I'll give you, but cooking methods? What are we using now we didn't do 1600 years ago - do you microwave your steak?

These are private businesses catering to more markets, they only answer to shareholders.

The people that don't want to eat Halal food should vote with their feet, it's not their right to eat non halal meat in a fast food chain, if it was a bad idea they will go bankrupt and you win.

More knowledge of microbiology and the causes of disease means more knowledge on what needs to be done to make the meat safe. Also improved ovens where you can keep the food at a relatively constant safe temperature without the risk of burning it and making it inedible. Even oven technology has advanced in the last 1600 years. :)

Its more a less the same. Someone just reads a prayer before slaughter. Now if words can change the taste of meat i would be suprised.

Muslim and Jews claim, that saying the God's words before slaughter give the food blessing and health to the person who eats it. It works in a similar way to the following clip:

;)

I'll just add that pigs aren't dirty animals. As been said its the conditions they are kept which makes them wollow in their own crap. Saw some programme showed outdoor reared pigs that had their own little houses (awww cute). Inside was crap free.

My brother's been to a halal factory. For it to have any kind of reasonable production, the prayer was a just a tape played on a loudspeaker while they do the slaughtering.

Are companies actually... changing product lines based on this stuff? Seriously?!?

Why do we think of people who beleive in UFO's as tinfoil hatted weirdos yet entire societys shape themselves around this stuff?

He isn't an idiot. Some people (myself included) disagree with the way halal meat is slaughtered and so won't support businesses that get their supplies in that manner.

Yet others like myself couldn't care less how cattle are killed. If it's still tasty, then it's tasty!
