Half-Life: Alyx

Why is it a surprise to people that it is VR. Valve have said 3 VR titles and released index. I'm glad they are making VR specific titles and not trying to make pancake work for VR and vice versa.

It's not everyone, just a few people that don't follow game news stories.
@sewerino26 : Minimum is not a RTX 2xxx it's a 960 (but I wouldn't like to comment on how that would actually play)

Really looking forward to this now, probably going to be the "killer app" for the Index, excited to see how well optimised Valve have got it.

The pre-release vid that I saw was using the VR "hop" movement method, which I utterly deplore. Is there also a free movement option?

Yes, see graphic.

Whast is shift vs continuous?

Not sure how I will play it yet. I don't love teleportation. My play space is small. I have decent width but ony about 4 feet depth.

I came across this the other day, it explains all the moment options...

Just checked out the Alleyway environment, the level of detail is insane. The clearest definition graphically I've encountered in anything VR, the push bike and the bush look incredibly real.

I'm hoping this will glide at the 120hz I default to because couple the graphics and ultra smooth and you've perfect immersion. You could feel it just teleporting around.

Didn't realise Vive owners got this for free as well as the Index ones. Decided to give the Index a miss this time around.

Nice little surprise I only spotted when messing around with Steam last week. Will be giving it a shot when it comes out.
