Shmoozing around? What do you want him to do? Drive around the world?

Hey Lewis it's back-to-back races again soon, yeah I might get there depends on the traffic Toto.

Because that's all he used it for, was it? For work? :o so what has he been doing since he sold the jet, then? Because he's not DRIVING to other continents is he?

does he not own a colossal sized yacht yet?

personally I don't really care where he lives or what he does with his wealth.

but if he preaches about the environment etc then he should practice what he preaches.

also anyone paying to offset their carbon footprint is basically cheating in my opinion

I find the petty reasons to hate him amazing.

What is wrong with him choosing to hang around with people in the music industry if he is interested in it? Same as if he is interested in fashion why shouldn't he also pursue such avenues.

He starts to worry about the environment so he sells his private jet and uses his platform to urge people not to use/throw away plastic and also helps clean up a beach.
He sees the impact the meat industry has on the environment so he goes vegan.
He has started 'The Hamilton Commission' to help the diversity within the sport.
He wants to work with Todt/FIA to make karting cheaper to get into.

No one moans about Jenson Button's or Jame's Hunts wild playboy days but with Hamilton it's a problem.
No one moans about JB or DC living in tax havens but with Hamilton it's now a problem.

We're literally on the verge of having the most successful person in the sport be a British person at the top of all of the records in Hamilton. That's something we should be proud of... Instead people get annoyed he hangs around with 'rappers'

the cost of living in Switzerland is insane.
the cost of everything in Switzerland is insane.

they have wealth tax btw upto 1% depending on which kanton

cheap 2 bed apartment is like 1500 euros ;)
in the UK you could probably expect an equal apartment for half that without being on the very edge of a city.

most people probably wouldn't be much better off financially unless they have amazing accountants which I'd imagine Hamilton does. although the quality of life is far greater than the UK so it's a no brainer if you can move there

Eh? People who use Switzerland as a tax haven do not work there, nor do they have to pay the wealth tax. Did you read the quote?

As you are so well informed about how he used it day in day out please give us the full details of his shmoozing around flights.

Of course he's not driving to other continents, neither are the rest of the paddock, why are you targeting Hamilton?

You can only practice to a point when your job means you have to fly around the world.

How about we target business people flying around the world when they could do a video conference.

That's not the point with Hamilton though. He talked about going vegan for environmental concerns and urged others to do so, while flying around his dog around on a jet! That's what people mean when saying he was a hypocrite.

so that means taking private planes? to up him self to fly business class or whatever?

private plane = rappers status symbol

what car does he drive normally off the track? is it something that saves the planet.

anyone with a carbon footprint probably 10000x the average person should probably quietly live there private life and not talk about politics or the environment.
because no one pays attention to a hypocrite they just end up hated.

If he wants to complain about the ridiculous packaging of most luxury items then yea maybe he could make a difference there.

I don’t really get it. He’s a little outspoken at times (not referring to the BLM stuff). Regardless, his talent is undeniable. I rate him as the most complete package we’ve ever seen in F1, certainly once he matured and got a good team around him, both in and outside the paddock.

I'm not going after Hamilton, I commend him for selling the jet. you brought up commuting to work, not me, and while he may have used it for that he also used it pretty extensively for private commuting. He posted it all over social media at the time, you don't have to look far to find it JBeck.

As for the rest of the paddock...that's the point. Do they all own private jets, using them to scoot around everywhere whilst simultaneously telling the rest of the world we need to be greener? And if they are, then they're as bas as Hamilton was. No singling out of Hamilton from me in fact you've clearly misread my posts as I've defended Hamilton for some of his actions in this thread. However I'll make it really clear; He was right to sell the the jet and i seriously approve of him changing his lifestyle in a conscious effort to be a part of the drive for change, at least where global warming is concerned anyway.

I love watching him drive, but I've never warmed to him off the track.

I think it's because of the way McLaren painstakingly massaged his PR to such an extent to paint him as some sort of super-clean can't do any wrong guy when he and Alonso clashed after Monaco 2007. It always bugged me. That's not all his own doing of course, but it meant I generally preferred other drivers in other teams, often without having a particular favourite. Don't get me wrong, Alonso was no angel, but he chose to go about his protestations publicly, as he wasn't going to get any support from within the team once they realised Hamilton was instantly going to be a championship contender. That stance came to bite them at the end of the season and indeed is the reason they've only won two championships (one driver, one constructor) from the point of Alonso and Hamilton joining them to now.

Ron Dennis has always had his favourites. It was that way with Senna, Hakkinen, do a degree Raikkonen, and quickly Hamilton became his next favourite. Coulthard's famous line about Dennis saying "what are they doing" regarding Coulthard's strategy vs his driver (Hakkinen) I could well imagine him repeating with regards to Hamilton vs Alonso.

Lie-gate in 2009 didn't help (and rather blew that previously massaged PR), and neither did the fanboyism from many Brits. I don't mind people having favourites, but you just can't reason with some of them.

I've never been one to just support Brits. I've been there (Mansell in particular, and to a lesser degree Hill in 1994 and 1995) but I tend to support drivers I like, not drivers who are British. It's the only sport I feel that way, but I guess it's because I've invested so much time watching over such a long period that for F1 I tend to see characters first, nationality second.

Again though, I love watching him race, especially so before the hybrid era, but much like Vettel, I somewhat ironically don't think these cars particularly suit him (hence Rosberg and Bottas being of the same speed), but unlike Vettel he managed to adapt to instead greatly improve his consistency to such an extent it's hard to see him not win championships so long as he's got a car capable or winning races.

He sold his jet when he realised how hypocritical he looked. Do you buy from OCUK? The guy who started the business was as racist as they come. Boycott OCUK!

Didn't he also move to a tax haven after selling it. I'd say it's pretty hypocritical to call Hamilton a hypocrite whilst still using this website @Stumble Bum

Everyone is a hypocrite in some sense.

Was waiting to see if someone would bring this up. It was Switzerland and then Jersey.

Considering how many people say they’d jump at the chance of working and living abroad any time someone asks about relocating, if you could go and live somewhere with far better weather, food and surroundings, all while keeping more of your money, wouldn’t you do it?

I lost respect for ham as soon he implied whoever didn't kneeled with him are racists.

He's losing the plod. I don't like him at all
