I don't really understand this move from Hamilton. I'm a big Mclaren fan and when he came to Mclaren I was so happy to see him get his drive. I thought he would stay there for the majority of his time in F1 to be honest. This decision is strange. Surely it can not be the extra money. It's not like he needs anymore money. How can someone so already rich be motivated by yet more money. I don't buy that. With Lewis, he has not got as far as he has by being motivated by money. It was always about the thirst for success in driving. I don't think this has changed... has it? I do worry that his "management team" have had a big influence in this move to make him this "global icon" which is so talked about, and his big coorperate potential in terms of marketing at Mercedes. Does he really need/want all this extra tat?
Sometimes people move teams because they want a challenge of a less successful team. It's not that, as he is obviously not winning often enough as it is at what is in my eyes, the current top team, in terms of this seasons car pace. I would genuinely put Mclaren top ahead of redbull and Ferrari on out and out pace overall.
His move stinks of "throwing toys out the pram" as if to say to Mclaren, this is what you are losing through your dodgey pit stops and poor reliability this season. I think that's quite unprofessional and he owes a lot more to Mclaren than to do this when it goes a bit wrong.
I'm losing my support for Hamilton, every time I see him in an interview it gets worse. Maybe we see a bit of Alonso in him, where Hamilton does not like a number 2 driver that is as good as him, and has the potential to beat him. Maybe he sees Rosberg as a push over (He shouldn't).
Writing off all of next season - if this is his mind set - and to focus on 2014 makes me sick. It's all about the now. Get it done. Nobody is getting any younger.
I do wish Mercedes well, as I like Ross Brawn and Rosberg too, but man do I want Perez and Button and Mclaren to do better than ever now next season almost to rub it in Lewis's face.
Maybe Lewis just fancied a move to inject some new ideas and a different perspective at racing. I just can't imagine Lewis driving for a team where they are 4/5th fastest and taking it well each week. It's not in his make up as he has always been at the top....
