Hamilton to Mercedes? BBC

This is all assuming that Mercedes don't offer him something to make him stay. You don't steal the most successful driver in F1 away from his 15 year partnership with Ferrari only to then let him go after 3 years.

I've always said that there was more to Mercedes signing Schumacher than just having him as a driver. It will be interesting to see what they do now.

Yeah you would think they would use him for development, except he can't use simulators without being ill the last time I heard.

Wasn't it to make the Mercedes brand appeal more to younger drivers as oppose to pensioners? That way they could compete better with BMW.

One only has to check the Mercedes AMG GP Facebook page to see that there is massive love for Schumacher still in Germany.

that was the old ferrari one way back and kimi had the same motion sickness , i'd imagine technology has moved on since then.

i dont see why he would want to stay with merc anyway its not like he owes them anything

yea lol for every hamilton fan theres around 10 people flaming merc :D

if nothing else schumacher generated huge interest in mercedes.

look at f1technical.com

the mercedes thread has 3,475 replies 147,193 views
ferrari thread 992 replies 39,675 views
mclaren thread 276 replies 16,909 views

the second most popular team thread on there is "merc 2011" 52,326 views

I can see the facebook page of mercedes remaining rather negative for the rest of the season

Is that all the people!! I have more moaning at me on my FB page lol..
Don't worry your head LH 3mil+ fans will be there next year ;)

And why do the german people think that they only drive mercs?
And if I was Merc with only 250,000 likes I would close it down :D

The MSc name is HUGE. Which lends itself nicely to marketing purposes. Marketing means money. And in F1, money is the most important ingredient required for success.

Sauber is the obvious choice, as there is now a seat available, and as shown by Perez, its a decent car. Not great. But decent.

The other choice would be to join up with a small team. Drive for them for 1-2 years, then buy it out and run it.

For selfish reasons, I would like to see him to join Ferrari, if only to see how he handles driving with Alonso.

well facebook is for the young uns...

i doubt most f1 fands bother to look if a team has an official facebook page and they are most likely to use the website

Exactly. All this talk of Schumacher taking sponsors and image and skills and knowledge to another team still apply to Mercedes in almost the same way. And Mercedes have far more to offer in terms of being an ambassador than any other option he has. They have DTM and GT racing, a massive car making market, and the option to work with a well funded f1 team with top drivers. Its a long term career as opposed to another short term attempt to hold onto a race seat. Just look at what he was doing with Ferrari before he came back.

you talk like schumacher needs the money or wants to drive tin tops (that he doesnt like)

mercedes essentially pushed him out
even if they parted on good terms he owes them nothing
they took lauda who has been a very vocal msc basher for 20 years.
schumacher doesnt want to be on the pit wall or a token ambassador and if he wants to earn money he can earn more elsewhere like the 7.5mil sponsor deal he signed recently

Where did you get this all from or is it just you opinion? Seem to know an awful lot about him.

It looked like he enjoyed the 'ambassador' part of being at Ferrari, so don't see why he won't do that for another team, especially with a big company like Mercedes.

Don't where your gets your numbers from but the real Ferrari FB which leads to other Ferrari pages has 9,459,136 likes

the ferrari page not the ferrari f1 team page.

mercedes have over 8million like then regardless of there f1 page only having 220k

its an opinion based on interviews over the years and how happy he doesnt look with mercedes for the last 2 races
if he wants money he has a wealth of personal sponsors and if he wants to be around f1 he doesnt need mercedes who obviously dont want him.

maybe he will stay with them because of tghe great amount of respect and dignity they showed him by anouncing he would be retiring from a driver role before they told the world they hired hamilton? stranger things have happened i guess

Your ninja skills are leaving you :D

Maybe MSC has found out he is not as good now as he thought he would be?
Also in 3 years MSC and Rosberg have done nothing to help the team move up.

Oh I missed your "merc don't want him" MSC knew about Lewis coming to Merc and was asked
to make up his mind.

what did you want them to do? personally design and build the cars like hamilton has done for mclaren?

still good enough to make hamilton look like an idiot at monza 2011

Now we know your just a Lewis Hamilton hater..and haters are going to hate..2011 omg..stop it already.

HMMM who's got a 10 place penalty in singapore because he never went to spec savers?

was it the same guy who crashed into another car in the pitlane because he forgot where the brake was?

i could link to a few articles which said merc only wanted to give msc a 1 year contract whilst he wanted a 2 year that were from way before all this hamiltin hype started but i cant be bothered.

crap team most msc fans are glad hes out of there, soon it will dawn on the hamilton fans what a huge mistake it all is
