I'm thinking about getting this monitor and connecting PC via DVI... are the cheapo £10 DVI cables sold on here actually any good? I know AV people who spend £30+ on such things.

Also, can someone confirm that you can switch between DVI and VGA input at will (so, for example, we could connect a 360 into the VGA)?

Oh and dual link is required for higher resolutions because single link doesn't have enough bandwidth, hence it's needed for those 1920x1200 30" screens.
Cheap cables are fine as its digital. If you were going to get fancy expensive gold plated cables and stuff you should have a got a fancy expensive monitor which this isn't. If this monitor is good enough for you then so is a cheap dvi cable.

As i mentioned above, to switch between inputs you have to: Press menu, scroll to input, press menu again, select your input, press menu again and then scroll to exit and press menu.

Got my 2 monitors the other day, just one stuck pixel a red one which i do`nt really notice,i`m very happy with both monitors there mint.

whats the quality of the monitor like when gaming at not the standard resolution of 1440 x 900 ?

eg. in 800x600 ?
and then does it stretch or use borders ?

I just that I hear these LCD's are poor quality at anything other than 1440 x 900...this true ?

I must admit i`ve had problems running duel monitors @ 1028X1024 the sweet spot is 1440 x 900.
I`m running games at 1028X1024 with call of duty 2 the only game i`m have a little problem with.

Not sure about ATI but in the nvidia options you can set it so that if you run a non native resolution it will put black borders above/below and around the image if say 1024x768 (but it is a bit crap having a large monitor with a tiny picture in the middle!)

Software scaling. Only works with some monitors. See the full list courtesy of Baddass here. Scroll right doen to the bottom. For whatever reason this monitor does not have hardware scaling and does not support software scaling.

I believe you have to crack it. Widescreen gaming forums have a crack for it.

Well my second Hanns Gruber arrived today and I eagerly unpacked the bugger. I'm happy to say theres no dead pixies, although there could have been a dead tft as I tripped over the 360's powerpack as I carried the lcd to the table :(

INTERESTING! Is that a Belinea 102030/102035??? That's on my "possible" list...

How does the Hanns compare to it image quality wise?

It's the Bel 102035. Image quality wise, they're more or less identical tbh. The early 102035's suffered from a lot of backlight bleeding (search this forum) which my model has and I've no idea if this has been remedied, but since I use it on the 360 rather then windows you can't really notice it. The panels on these hanns grubers are very crisp and sharp. Overall build quality isn't that bad given the price. I'm very happy with mine though.

Time to tidy up these pesky cables...

So ignoring the size difference they're much the same image quality/speed wise? Many thanks!

Same quality yes, although Badass will know what panels these two screens have between them. I reckon the Bel has a better quality panel then the Hanns. Also the Bel does have a larger resolution of 1680x1050 vs 1440x900.
