Hanns-G HW191D Thread (Now £107.95 @ OcUK)

I brought one of these Hanns G non-WS monitors the other day and when browsing OcUK at 60hz I can see flickering similar to when running my old CRT at 60hz.

I see it geneally on blue backgrounds, especially the blue shade of OcUK. At 70hz I can't notice it. Is this normal for a TFT?

Hmm, not sure what the flickering was since TFT's don't refresh the screen in the same way CRT's do?

Same quality yes, although Badass will know what panels these two screens have between them. I reckon the Bel has a better quality panel then the Hanns. Also the Bel does have a larger resolution of 1680x1050 vs 1440x900.

Well the proof is in the tasting :)

If you have BOTH screens and you're saying they basically perform as well as each other (same panel or not), that's VERY interesting! :)

Im ordering my self one of these in a couple of days, birthday on thursday :)
Just wondering how they can get away with supplying them with dead pixels. Surely if the panel has dead pixels then it can be considered to be faulty and is suitable for RMA. More to the point does this mean if any pixels die inside the three year warrenty they are not covered. Sorry if these are nub questions but ive avoided LCDs so far due to my PC mainly being used for games and OCing.

Only a select few lcd have a zero dead pixel warranty, and you pay a lot for it. If they were all dead pixel free this monitor would cost twice thr price as they would have to bin at least half of the panels. Lcd manufacturing technology has improved a lot but you can never get it 100% defect free. If you want no dead pixels, you have to pay for it. If not, get this and take your chances.

I think there has to be more than 4 dead pixels or something like that for you to RMA it

Ah, but I'm no pro like most of the peeps here :) All I wanted was to move away from dual VGA screens to dual DVI screens. Even though via DVI they're both as good as each other, others can pick out differences.

Well my second Hanns Gruber arrived today and I eagerly unpacked the bugger. I'm happy to say theres no dead pixies, although there could have been a dead tft as I tripped over the 360's powerpack as I carried the lcd to the table :(

Bit larger

Hey mate what wallpaper is that and how you get the black start menu bar thing

anyone got any issues with some colours on pictures looking too blended and a little green in places with their screens....i dont know if its my settings or whatever, but i really cant seem to get a good balance anywhere, using an x1800xt with it.

Anyone give me any ideas on what brightness and contrast your all using and the colour settings, as i cant see to get a good balance still, also is there a colour profile for this monitor anywhere?

This week only came at just the right time for me :D My auction on my old graphics card ends in a day so i'll be using that money to get the monitor. I'll probably leave it a while before buying a second one. So hopefully i'll have one by the end of next week
