I think Im going to get myself one of these on Monday :) Just a few more questions to put my mind at ease.

I will be using this monitor primarily for gaming. Can it be confirmed that this monitor is sound for gaming? In particularly, DoD Source...
:D

My main game is DoDS, and It runs that fine. Looks gorgeous, and widescreen gaming is the way forward.

As its a tft, refresh rate makes no difference to anything and its better to have it lower i believe as its less work for the gpu.
If i have my refresh rate set to 60Hz on my 17" tft then i get horizontal 'bands' waving down the screen. It's especially noticeable on the forums or other things with a large amount of the same colour.

Have you tried pressing auto adjust when you see those bands? I used to get 'wigglies' on my old tft and pressing auto adjust on a screen where they showed most fixed it.

Never actually tried that. It only used to happen after i installed new drivers and it reset the refresh rate to 60Hz. I just changed it back to 72Hz and it was fine.

You absolutely sure about that? I have a VX922, supposedly the gamers tft of choice and at its max refresh rate of 75Hz I can clearly tell the difference when doing fast twitches in COD2 compared to my crt. Please tell me I am doing something wrong because at the moment the tft is being used as a secondary display as the crt gives much better fps performance for my eyes.

I read somewhere that the only reason there is a refresh rate is to maintain backwards compatability with crts, but i'm not sure.

Thinking about it, a tft could have a refresh rate but i think it just changes whatever pixels it needs to change when they need changing rather than refreshing the whole lot.

I would imagine the difference you're seeing is the response time of the tft which will never be quite as good as a crt. I believe response time has nothing to do with refresh rate on a tft.

My monitor arrived today. All working fine - no dead pixels or anything.

One problem is DVD playback- its rubbish! Way too dark and when you brighten it up the picture gets full of noise.

Any advice on this. I use Power DVD.

Are you using the vga? I hear that dvi gets rid of the noise. It also may get better over time.
I've yet to try dvd playback on mine but video playback is fine, and i did notice some noise when using vga but none at all using dvi.

Yeah Im using VGA, not got round to buying a DVI yet. I'll try one of them then :)

Feels strange coming from a crt to this. DoD seems a bit more laggy and things like that...

Im not entirely sure what to think of it.

Do you think A dvi would improve its performance quite abit?

Dvi got rid of noise for me, but it was barely noticeble anyway.
I've moved from a crt to two of these and i don't find i notice the lesser response time at all.

Ive lowered some game settings and it seems to be peforming better now. Must have been struggling with the jump from 1024x768 to 1440x900.

Ordered a dual DVI-D - DVI-D cable. Hopefully it will sort out the dreadful DVD playback Ive been experiencing.

Well I gamed well on the monitor for the first time, must be getting use to it. Im not noticing the delay compaired to my CRT like I was. Then again I have just put a DVI cable on but I cant se how this would make a difference.

Found a good wallpaper site with free 1440/900 res images.

enjoy

cant find much argument between Belinea 1925S1W owners and Hanns-G owners about what is best on these boards.

I'm a gamer, but mainly just desktop use with a DVI capable 6800, and I dont know which is best out of Belinea and Hanns-G, can anyone sell me one or the other please?
