Hard Reset (PC exclusive) - Thread

Well I have to echo what every1 else has said, on Ultra, the game looked and played extremely well. 1st thing that caught my attention was the menu system, think it's quite rare to like a menu :p

I'll be keeping an eye on this, while the demo was great fun, I worry about it getting repetitive.

I liked the menu for the first five seconds, at that stage I though woah, cool. Now I hate it since I have to sit through the same animations the whole time.

Still, very impressed with the demo so I now have it on pre-order :D

Let's hope there's a pre-load.

Liking this game, demo shows off enough to make you want the full game so it's done it's job, liking some of the art work for main enemys at the end, some look like they could be epic to battle with.

The NRG gun is insane with upgrades, a lot of variety form a single side arm once upgrades are applied, needles to say im looking foreword to the game and shal be purchasing.

also the menus bug the life out of me too.

Not impressed with the demo TBH. Slightly prettier than the average recent PC games but nothing which can touch BF3/Crysis2 etc etc. I think its favourable reception is more to do with lowered expectations than it being anything special as PC gamers have got used to poor quality ports (which seem to be getting worse!!) so anything PC exclusive seems more special than it is.

The low budget is obvious when you play it & no publisher wanted it which is why its only on Steam. When its £5 maybe I will buy @ xmas but its certainly not worth £23 IMO as the gameplay is & will be pretty generic/boring very quickly.

lol crysis 2, if that's not a lowered quality port I don't know what is, with its limited destruction/physics, console FOV, sloppy mouse control, lots of crap textures even after the DX11 update/high-res textures:rolleyes: and slapped on tessellation, it looks noway as good as hard reset, then again CR2 a console focused game was never actually gonna look out standing on PC anyway. The game has faded away in to nothingness over the past few months.

Hard reset a DX9 title has some of the most detailed visuals I have seen on PC in a long while and puts most DX11 games ' cough crysis 2 ' to shame

I found it hard to get into this... seems a bit just run around and shoot, I like a little bit more strategy :D.

Might give it another go this evening.

Have to agree about the menus being repetitive. Cool this first min or two but highly annoying that it takes along time to do anything with em. Also the intro bits i cant skip which their seems to be a lot of them, more than usual i think.

Pretty game but once you get over the graphics I don't see anything new and the menu is far too slow.

Not sure what Ravens on but this isnt a patch on Crysis 2.

CR2 has crap physics, low quality textures ' see above ' compared to hard reset which I would estimate 90% of the game assets are of high-res texture quality and highly detailed something that CR2 can't get close to, even the high-res update the game still looks low-res in lots of areas anyone with decent eyesight can see this. It's easy to cover up a games lesser quality with overdone bloom and ssao effects, underneath the finer details are not there. As for gameplay, yes this is linear but then again so was CR2, for me CR2 was not fun, this is.

People moaning about the menu? how many times you gonna access the menu? I will set my settings and be done with it. And yeah it's an old school style shooter, it says so on the label so don't expect mind boggling innovative gameplay.

Pretty graphics doesnt make a game. I thought the demo was average but Crysis 2 pulled me in. May be the full game might be better but I wouldn't pay more than £5.

Each to their own.

RPS claiming it is quite short, even if it is i hope they build on what they've made, engine is amazing and fun shooting.

Hit Ctrl and ~ to bring down the command console

Type: pp_enable 0

Disable motion blur while sprinting, apparently.

This is based on the demo

The Good
+1 Pretty Graphics
+1 Stylish Intro, I loved the comic book look
+1 Old School style shooter
+1 Fun

The Bad
-1 For unskipable developer logo
-1 For unskipable adds
-1 For 2 weapons at anyone time limitation
-1 Overly animated menu switching

There's probably a way to turn off the adds by messing around with some .cfg file somewhere on the computer but it shouldn't be like that, I expect to be able to press Esc and go straight the main menu. I think I'll wait for the full reviews on this one but it does look fun.

-1 For 2 weapons at anyone time limitation

My view on that is that they have discovered a clever way around the idiotic "rule" that modern shooters have bound themselves by and I like it.
Its not 2 weapons at a time there are only 2 weapons but each has 10 firing modes = upto 20 weapons at a time :D.

Agree on unskippable ads. Why do all games do this? Its not like it is using that time to actually load the game so stop it!

Its a demo, the price to pay for an early peek at there merchandise is advertising, im sure it wont be the case in the full release.

As for weapons, its crazy how much fun it is having x amount of modes all in one sidearm
