Harry Maguire - Banged up Abroad

Just off the phone to a mate who reps in Mykonos. Gave some details on Harry Maguire incident. Said Maguire was attacked from behind on Wednesday night so he went to defend himself. Trouble is, by the time he’d turned around, it was Friday morning & he hit an innocent bystander.....

You sure it wasn't Bailly?

Where did you see that?
I didn't - that's my question too. I was responding to the post above where someone claimed his sister had been stabbed but I've not seen or read that anywhere else.

If his sister was stabbed why the police arrest him? And why fight the police? Unless they're the ones who stabbed her. Doesn't stack up and none of the reports mention anything about any stabbing. Unless you've got a reference or news article I'd treat that one with a good pinch of salt and file it along with a certain person's tweets with regards reliability.

Haha they definitely need to make an episode of banged up abroad for Maguire, would be hilarious having him in the studio talking about it.

This is the tabloid article which mentions his sister.

Clearly doesn't have too many brain cells to think going holiday to a place like Mykonos, is be a good idea.

At the top of the DM article it says "Maguire allegedly attacked policemen and five officers were reportedly needed to wrestle him to the ground" is this definitely the same HM as I've seen him go over a lot easier than that on more than one occasion. There's a whole youtube video dedicated to it!!

Yeah the sister stabbed stuff is BS no doubt circulated to the english press by Maguires lawyers.

Notice how they say stabbed by a sharp object. Like what are we talking here? keys? a fork? It wasn't a knife and she didnt need to go to a hospital and is still out there on Holiday perfectly fine. Some Greek newspapers reporting she received a cut during the brawl which sounds far more believable.

The lawyers are just trying to spin this as much as they can. Also doesnt explain assulting police twice, attempting to flee from police and then trying to bribe them.

He'll probably get off with a slap on the wrist knowing footballers but should probably be locked up or at very least barred from ever returning to Greece.

It'll be a PR firm or his agent trying to put a positive spin on things by trying to make out he was just heroically trying to defend his sister, he's an England and Manchester United player so they'll try to paint a rosy red image of him in British media. I mean Raheem Sterling is used an ambassador/role model despite his history with using drugs.

What drug use is Raheem sterling associated with? Are you referring to legal drugs or are you just being a bit of a racist as usual?

Rob grew up supporting an Arsenal side packed full of proper role models - the likes of Paul Merson, Tony Adams and George Graham.

Isn't that about 99% of footballers in general?

Yep and being really good at something does make you a role model apparently. If we want to blame someone, blame the parents and the media. Footballers are there to kick a ball. The papers feeding idiots constant gossip and updates about their irrelevant lives only to revel when something goes wrong is pathetic.

Most intelligent people realise that celebrities and sports people are quite often completely disconnected from the real world and entirely ignorant and shouldn’t be look at as anything beyond what they are professionally.

Have I ever defended them on here?
I was just joking Rob but it is also a little odd that you're critical of Sterling when, given your age, I assume you started following football seriously during an era when footballers behaved 1000x worse than anything Sterling has done and you began supporting one of the worst behaved sides around at that time too.
