has anyone used digital rev?

Would it be worth a gamble to buy the Tamron 17-50mm for £70 less at digitalrev? 1 year digitalrev warranty vs 5 year UK Tamron warranty...

Ordered a Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 @ £535, I'll let you know if i get stung on Duty etc, As i can get it from a UK store for £585, I didn't realized they was in Hong Kong as it didn't say via their mobile version of the site my s3 kept going to, Luckly i paid via Credit card.

Ive just noticed that digital Rev are selling the 5D Mark III for £2499 and the D800 at £2700

Why do you think that is?

I thought you had probably understood it from having posted earlier in the thread?

To explain...

DigitalRev is based in Hong Kong, the cameras there have a cheaper price point than they are in the UK. By selling to the UK as a grey import they cash in on the fact that every UK retailer wants the full £2999 for the 5D. So by offering it at a much cheaper price, they are likely to get more sales because not everybody wants to pay the current UK prices.

I personally am still weighing up whether to get a 5D from them now, as the UK prices don't really seem to be shifting at all.

Jorzeh - As people have already pointed out in the thread, you are unlikely to be hit for taxes because you will have likely already paid Digital Rev to take care of them:

For most overseas delivery addresses, we apply an Import Handling surcharge for handling the importation of the order into your country of delivery. As importing products from overseas can be a hassle for most of our international customers, we choose to handle this process on your behalf by adding a surcharge to your order total. The purpose of this charge is to simplify the process of buying internationally and make budgeting easier for your purchases.

Once you have paid the Import Handling Fee, we will handle all the following costs should they occur during customs clearance:
Any Import Tax and/or Duty in your country
Any courier's Free Domicile handling charge (Duties and Tax Forwarding Surcharge)
Any Local Customs clearance fee

The fee also covers our administrative costs. The final total is all you have to pay to have the order delivered to your door without delay. Please note that you are the importer of the order, and it is your responsibility to check with your local Customs regarding matters of import restrictions/prohibited goods.

Apparantly you can get 5D Mk3 from ******* if you pay via bank transfer for £1995 inc delivery, as per the Mk3 thread on TP forums.

Ive used ******* a couple of times for lenses, always fast delivery.

INDEED it is!! the price is going down on the mk3 overal. its £200 cheaper on some places in the UK now!!

When it was £2600 in DR, kerso was also doing it for £2600 via BT so no reason to go DR, even at £2500 I still wouldn't go to DR, but it's £350 now, it means I can add the grip on top and still pay less than what I paid for my other mkiii.....

I got it from kerso at £2600 when DR was selling it for the same price.

I'm looking to get another in the next month or so, keeping an eye on prices.

I think I've found Kerso's website.

It would seem to suggest they get imports from the US, but say that a USA warranty is valid in the UK for one year? Is that so? How come it's not considered a grey important like the Hong Kong ones, if that is the case?

(I'm thinking about ordering a mk3 from somewhere this weekend, is the reason for all my questions!)
