Asus Deluxe, 16GB 2666Mhz dom plats, 5820k is what I have my eye on, but I do like to change my mind
My plan is Gigabyte X99, 16GB DDR4 2133mhz and 5820K.
Then next year 6930K (Hopefully 8 core) and 32GB DDR4 3000+mhz.
Also like to change my mind lol, and spend way over budget
I'm exactly the same boom...I have £1k cash but need to buy a new ssd and another 780 to sli so think my credit card will need to take some of the hit.
I've got a gigabyte 780, but never used their mainboards, what make of ram you going for ?
I'm a Gigabyte mobo fanboy lol. Gonna pick up the cheapest 16GB DDR4 kit I can find, around £150, CPU £280-£300. Mobo hopefully £250.
All in for around £700. Then next year pick up some better spec memory for a decent price. Hopefully the 6930K will have 8 cores as well, and be a slot in upgrade. This setup is just to get me onto X99 cheapest as possible.
My GF may possibly murder me if I jump in tomorrow but not sure I can resist Will need to sell my Z97 and 4790K to lessen the blow to the wallet
Is there any new news on when Broadwell-E is due out?
The last I heard was we won't see Broadwell-E until the end of 2015 at the earliest.
Q4 of 2015 I think it was.
Yeah that's right, this time next year.
Thing is if you go X99 now your pretty much guaranteed the highest end platform through 2015 > 2016 with Broadwell -E. Two years at the high end, from that perspective it represents good value imho. I could stay on Z97 but most likely 5770K will likely be another 'non soldered' 4 core chip with a better IGPU and only 5% IPC boost.
I think longterm X99 (5820K) is the better value setup. Broadwell -E should cement it's lead again next year and hopefully by the time that's getting boring AMD will have something to counter Intel with, you would hope so anyway two years from now lol.
