***Haswell -E Owners Thread***

Still installed in the red slots, but they now have one stick from each set together.

When i had set 1 together in slots A1 B1 and set 2 in C1 D1 they didn't work, so now moved one from each over and working fine :)

Glad you got it sorted, if you right click 'my computer' does it show 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)?

Is Haswell-E harder to overclock? When SandyBridge-E came out on X79 we were seeing 4.6 - 5.0GHz almost straight away.

Regarding that Gskill ram under 200 bob with 3000mhz

I inquired about it with one place and was told its few weeks away but having spotted the cheap prices and limited info I think somethings way off on it.

G.Skill 16GB (4x4GB)Ripjaws 4 PC4-24000 / DDR4 3000 Mhz

PC4-2400 yet DDR4-3000mhz?

I think its gonna end up really PC4-19200 or something else but course can't be 100% sure if your happy to wait why not :)

Shows 3fps difference between the cheapest DDR4-2133 and the most expensive 3000mhz ram. Think someone also said that crucial 2133 ram has been getting close to 3000mhz ram speeds in overclocking wise.

Naturally if your a overclocker or want the best ram go for it !

Silly question, but can I use DDR3 ram with these or can you only use DDR4?

Was wondering if I could spread the cost of an upgrade by not getting DDR4 straight away but still being able to use the computer

AFAIK the x99 chipset is DDR4 only. I do believe the modules (ddr4) have more pins on them in comparison to ddr3.

No you can't mate, DDR4 has 288-pins, more than DDR3 :)

that's what holds most people back I think. If the ram wasn't as expensive as it is, x99 wouldn't be way more expensive than z97
