***Haswell -E Owners Thread***

Would be great if someone could confirm that if any of the new motherboards support VT-d (not just VT-x please).

It took quite a while for it to appear on all but a select few X79 motherboards - just wonder if its the same for X99. ta.

Here is a US map with all the state sales tax values for each state. State sales tax is only added on to the cost at point of sale, and not on displayed prices.

** Hotlinked image removed **

Nobody in the US will be paying any sales tax because they won't be stupid enough to order from the same state that they live in = no sales tax paid.

If someone in the US purchases from a seller who doesn't have a presence in their state then they are required pay a "use tax" which is the same amount as the sales tax would have been if the goods had been purchased in their state.

Yes, you are right. But if you have some vendors that I don't know if I can name that price everything really well then even with sales tax it comes cheaper. For example:

Cost me $899 + sales tax = $970ish. Still cheaper than the $999+ everywhere else and I get it immediately. Heck I could have gotten the motherboard and RAM (for even cheaper with a CPU + MoBo combo) today as well but decided to wait it out for options.

FYI, we don't have to pay any use tax or anything. If the vendor has no physical presence then we pay no sales tax. Done deal!

Is that a peculiarity to your state?

Various sources I've read say that when a resident of the assessing state purchases an item that is not subject to his state's sales tax they should pay use tax.

No one I know has to pay any sales tax if the vendor isn't in the state here. It makes sense- the state isn't sponsoring land/business for the vendor physically so why would it get any money?

Thing is no one does it because the definition of a taxable good/service from an out of state vendor is different. US laws are friggin terrible.

Another point is I am not a US citizen so that isn't applicable either thanks to my visa status- hasn't stopped citizens from never paying either :p

Anyway all this is off topic so don't want to keep people away from Haswell-E goodness.

The prices are decent tbh. I predicted the 5930k at £500 from OCUK. I am suprised tbh

Looking forwards to some results. Surely there are benches somewhere?

The 5930K is slightly cheaper than what I paid for my 3930K :)
